She seems good to me...

She kinda walked through it.
I liked the Elphie standby though. Very nice!
I guess I can see that, but it also seems like she's intentionally try to make it her own. Agree about Brescia, though! She's terrific.
I didn't like the Elphaba standby...her voice bothered me. But I didn't think Annaleigh was as horrible as people have made her out to be.
Wow. Lisa Brescia.
Ashford was very... ehhhh.
I'm glad Lisa is getting the recognition she deserves...what a talented young woman (and the nicest actor I've ever met). She was a terrific Elphaba.

I really don't think it's fair to judge Annaleigh (or Lisa) based on a 25 second clip from an outdoor park dedication. She sounded fine to me, but I really can't judge an entire performance based on a little clip like that.
Annaleigh seems fine. It's Lisa who seems out of place. She looks too old.
I was very impressed by Brescia and thought Ashford was pretty good too.

O wow, everyone should see Lisa. Dont judge her from this. She was incredible!!!
They were both great. Annaleigh still needs a little bit longer before she's actually there, but she's doing great. And Lisa is fabulous. I can't say enough about her and how wonderful she is onstage.

Lisa is such a wonderful performer; I'd love to see her Elphaba. She did L5Y out here (in Milwaukee) a few years ago and was just fantastic.
This was nice to see
Good job for both.
Lisa was incredible when I saw her on 10/31. What a great voice! And acting chops to boot. Annaleigh has an amazing voice, but needs to fine tune her acting. It was only about 2 weeks into her run when I saw her though, so chances are she'll continue improving.
Seriously though, if Lisa doesn't take over somewhere as full-time Elphaba, the producers are out of their minds.
Annaleigh was border line crap (To harsh?). I didn't mind the stand-by...
I hope I can get to see Lisa Brescia live some day. I rather liked (what little I saw of) her interpretation of the role and she has a lovely voice. She's definitely talented enough for something more substantial than a standby role, which is not to say, of course, that standbys are untalented.
Annaleigh was pretty good, too, in my opinion.
I think some people don't get Annaleigh's humor. Maybe it's too subtle...not as obvious as what we're used to seeing in musical theatre. Plus, I agree that you can't really judge her usual performance in the show based on this clip. It's so different not being in costume, singing into a hand mic on a make-shift stage outside than being in the theatre.
Either way...I love Annaleigh...

Wow, Annaleigh's voice is much stronger than I thought. She did walk through it, but I'll reserve my judgement until I actually see her in the show.

I saw Annaleigh play Glinda twice on tour (I got lucky) and I LOVED her. I agree that her style is more subtle, and I like that about her. It's also interesting to see the contrast in her work from the MTV Legally Blonde to this video. She's a dynamic actress. A REAL actress. I'm confused why people are so down on her. Her vocals sound near perfect to me, and she's BEING a real girl instead of a demented older lady trying to act like a little girl. It's interesting how taste is so different when it comes to style. And the best part is, most people who see the show probably wouldn't notice much of a difference between various Glindas and Elphies. This website is funny.
i think Annaleigh sounds a bit Jersey-Girl for my tastes. i do love Lisa's voice, though. Lisa sounds amazing in those clips!
Annaleigh Ashford is great and probably would have a big career in Hollywood if Broadway keeps dumping on her. My my, some of us can get very bitchy over a young woman who clearly has all sorts of talent. I'd love to see what sort of talent the person who called her crap (yes, WAAAAAAY too harsh) has. Can YOU front a hit Broadway musical? If not, STFU and sit down. (Yeah, probably too harsh....)

I agree...even if you don't like her interpretation of the role, there's no denying she has talent and has to have talent to get this far at such a young age.
Why do we keep pooping on our talent base? Why would she stay here if we keep doing this?
