Signature posted a behind the scenes video of a photo shoot with Cole Horibe (from So You Think You Can Dance) as Bruce Lee in their new production of KUNG FU by David Henry Hwang. He can definitely move and he ain't too hard to look at.

Also excited that Sonya Tayeh is choreographing. Love her work on SYTYCD.

I loved this! Quite an interesting story of Bruce Lee's life that worked great as a play. It was well written, funny, engaging and had exciting staging including the kung fu fighting!

The show is a play about Bruce's life in America up until he decides to return to Hong Kong to shoot his big movies. There are flashbacks to when Bruce was young interacting with his strict father and dream sequences where he speaks to his father in the present in America and even after his death. The scenes with his father are a bit too much, but it's an important part of Bruce's character. I'm sure people will find it cheesy that Bruce fights with his dead father, but it worked. There are exciting kung fu fight scenes throughout the show including a scene from Green Hornet (complete with Robin) and a scene from a western show that did not make it to TV. There's also some kung fu practicing done rhythmically in a dance style. And there's some short bits of Chinese opera. Cole Horribe was very good as Bruce Lee.

All in all, it was quite a fun show with an interesting life story to be told. See it while those $25 seats remain!

After only the first preview the $25 seats nearly all sold out. All that's left now are some Wednesday matinee seats. Must have been some pretty great word of mouth!
