Someone should put up the new Hairspray marquee.
It now matches their new ad campaign you see around the city.

Posted: 10/28/07 at 4:10pmthe little mermaid marquee looks awful dull for a show with as much money put into it as it does. I knew Young Frankenstein would upgrade to a flashier marquee. Definitly a fan of the Cyrano marquee.

I did not LIKE The Little Mermaid marquee too.. I thought its so simple & plain. they did not even put any production photos outside the theater...
OMG- Preview starts this Saturday 11/3 !

That's not out of the ordinary. Traditionally, but not set in stone, many shows start previews with generic looking signage. The production has to fill the frames and boxes, sometimes as simple as the window card, blown up to fit each frame. The producers usually wait for production and star displays until after opening night so they change them with hopefully positive reviews. Look at the transformation The Neil Simon has gone through since previews of "Hairspray" and they had a healthy advance. Give them time.

oh my goodness, how did I miss this thread? Yay for The Homecoming! That theater kind of looks like a dump from the outside though. But, it's what's inside that counts :-P
I agree about The Little Mermaid marquee. Hopefully, the show, and the marquee will improve during previews

Here's a picture of the new Hairspray marquee...
re: WBaF's New Marquees On Broadway Thread#35
Posted: 11/1/07 at 12:08pmI passed by it. I do not like it. When I was there it looked like a tempoary marquee but it isn't. I like the original one much better.

Posted: 11/1/07 at 12:28pmI really don't like the new HAIRSPRAY marquee. It just looks weird, especially with the purple can (which needs to spray again).

Posted: 12/12/07 at 6:38pmI don't like that the word "Hairspray" doesn't fit onto the marquee all together without it reading "Hair Spray."

I really love the marquee for Sunday in the Park with George, I just wish I could live in the USA. Kinda OT but, have you seen the new interview on the Roundabout Site? Really interesting.
