I wouldn't expect lavish sets because this production is already being lined up to tour the states and Europe.
So. a young boy soprano will sing SOMEWHERE?
Interesting.

Ew. The Cavenaugh again? He's a fine underwear model, but the poor dear can't act.
::Yawn::
This list is incredibly boring. Cavenaugh is sleep-inducing, and Olivo doesn't really do it for me.
The young girl playing Maria at least sounds interesting.

Well, the only reason Cavenaugh will be too old is because the girl he's opposite is 9 years younger than him.
But I'm pumped for Olivo - anyone who's seen her performance in In the Heights (especially "The Club") can see she's a great dancer and she's got a little Rivera/Moreno in her.
If some of you aren't happy about Cavanaugh's casting, then who would you prefer? Just curious.
I don't see a problem with Tony being a little older than the gangs and their girls. After all, he is an ex-jet, a gang founder, and he has an actual job.
Now, Matt Cavenaugh doesn't look stereotypically Polish to me, and as I didn't see "Urban Cowboy" I can't comment on his movement skills. Also, I hope he has that high B flat for "Maria," instead of taking the optional notes.
But age-wise, I'm fine with it.
Olivo is AMAZING and Cavenaugh is gorgeous and talented ! Did Tony in the movie look like a 20 year old ??? Stop whining and judging them before even seing them, what happened to the benefit of the doubt ???

Tom, I don't have another preference, but pretty much 65% of this board was pushing Cheyenne Jackson for it.
You can't cast him in EVERY ROLE, people.

Tom, I'd settle for someone with enough musical and dramatic ability to be able to carry off the part successfully. That effectively excludes the Cavenaugh creature.

Cavenaugh is as weak an actor as Jackson.
If they went for an unknown Maria, why wouldn't they go for an unknown Tony, as well?
If they couldn't cast an unknown, I wanted Aaron Tveit.
The casting of Cavanaugh and Olivo has put a slight damper on my excitement, but that doesn't mean I won't go into the show with an open mind. I trust Arthur Laurents' casting ability, even if this cast doesn't look good on paper . . .
I think Tom is too old but he I think he will be great. I have never seen him in a very big part doing everything( I saw him in Catered Affair- He was on stage for like 15 min) I cant wait to be completely surprised by what he can do! He will be fantastic! Plus hes not bad to look at either! Also Cody Green is a fantastic dancer but i've never heard him sing or act so Ill have to see on that. Also Curtis Holbrook= Yay! Matt Hydzick= YAY!!!!!! I love him! His dancing just blows me away! He is fantastic! I'm so happy that he is continuing to get work. =)

By Tom, do you mean Matt?
You are correct, broadwaygirl99. I am too old to play Tony.

Karen Olivo obviously can't dance like Chita Rivera, but she most certainly channeled Rita Moreno during "The Club" sequence in IN THE HEIGHTS, and most importantly, she displayed a mixture of sex, fieriness, vocal power, and excellent acting that immediately brought Anita to mind. I am thrilled beyond belief about her casting, and Arthur Laurents is the same man who hand-picked Leigh Ann Larkin and Laura Benanti to play June and Louise in GYPSY. If he picked the wonderful Karen Olivo over Bianca Marroquin, there is a reason. Olivo is the only member in the cast that I'm excited about, but I'm oh so excited about it, that it's enough.
no Natalie Cortez(Diana in A Chorus Line). I wonder if she even auditioned??

Anyone know how old this Kyle Brenn is?
Is he a little 10 year old who's voice hasn't changed? or is he an older guy whose voice hasnt changed?
I can't imagine it making much sense (in the show's context) if it was the latter, but his bio says he penned two musicals?
No, jennyish and what do you mean Tom? I have gave complements. There have been atleast 7 other people that said he was too old. At least I said he would be really good despite the huge age difference that might look awkward on stage.
I'd just like to point out that Karen Olivo just won the Fred & Adele Astaire Award this year. As in, she won a dancing award.
I'm very excited about Olivo. Kind of excited about Cody Green only because I'd like to see what he's like in the singing and acting department. We already know he can dance well. Now Matt Cavenaugh... I'm sure he'll sing the role well, but I do think he's a little old looking. I'll just deal with it though. I wish they went with someone fresher. And Paul W. Thompson, I too hope he has the high B-flat.

I actually think that Curtis Holbrook is the most inspired casting choice for this production. He'll knock it out of the park !
Well that finalizes those Aaron Tveit rumors, even though Marc Shaiman got to it first.
Just for the fun of reading the resulting BWW threads, I was rooting for Zac Efron.

I think that has contributed to the minor confusion of who you were speaking of.
I don't mean to be rude by asking you this, but is English your first language? Your syntax suggest that it might not be.
