My excitment for this production just went out the window.
Olivio bores me on stage.
Me too. Olivo's pretty great, though.
just to clarify, Bianca Marroquin, was in final call backs, the very last day of final call backs, Bianca did not attended, due to other offer in the works for an upcoming bwy show. Also, from what I've heard, she wasn't very thrilled with the rest of the cast. They did try to get her back in call backs, but she said, she would be interested later in the process, meaning after the D.C. tryout.
She was in the top of the list.
I think she made a good choice, by waiting, so far the cast sounds boring and dull. Will see
I think passing on this production and the opportunity to work with Arthur Laurents in what could be his final Broadway production would be a HUGE mistake. Bianca doesn't want to be in and out of CHICAGO her entire career, does she? I hope her "other offer" was a great one.
no Natalie Cortez(Diana in A Chorus Line). I wonder if she even auditioned??
I... don't remember if she said she did or she didn't audition. She did say a while ago that she wasn't involved, which was very disappointing.
I'm not excited about the idea of Matt Cavenaugh at all. He's got a great voice, but as an actor he just doesn't impress me. Hopefully I'll be surprised.
I think Olivo will be an interesting Anita.

I put my thoughts on this in today's episode, if you have any interest.
Goodbye Cloris, Hello West Side Story and MORE Subrasket!!!
Anyone know how old this Kyle Brenn is?
Is he a little 10 year old who's voice hasn't changed? or is he an older guy whose voice hasnt changed?
I can't imagine it making much sense (in the show's context) if it was the latter, but his bio says he penned two musicals?
He appears to be a little 10 year old- his headshot's up on the website of his agency (scroll about halfway down)...
Carson Adler Agency
If some of you aren't happy about Cavanaugh's casting, then who would you prefer? Just curious
The oft-rumored Aaron Tveit would have been a much better, more inspired, much more interesting choice in my opinion. Watching Cavenaugh onstage is about as interesting as watching paint dry.

Agreed. My problem is not with Matt's age, but his entire lack of stage presence and excitment.
What I ment by that was, I can't wait to see him in a role where he is constantly on stage. I want him blow me away with his performance and I want to see how he is as a triple threat. I believe that he will be fantastic because he would not have gotten the lead in a major musical if he didnt deserve it. I cant wait to see him in this, really. He might even get a Tony for it! Is there other people who can do this a little better? Maybe, but he is the one they chose and he will have to grow on me. I'm sure after I see it once he will captovate me and I will never be able to see it without him again. But in all honesty, I dont think you should be mad at me because I am not making fun of his acting like other people on this thread are. So maybe you should read other posts before you get mad at someone who didnt say something that hurtful.
I do think broadwaygirl99's first language IS english. But, I think she was born in '99 and is a nine year old girl who doesn't know how to write properly yet... Can you proofread your posts before you hit enter?
Im not nine. I can tell you that. I am sorry to anyone I hurt and I apoligize humbly. I don't want to sound stupid but I hate when this happens, when I simply state an opinion on a MESSAGE BOARD crazy me but please forgive me for any harm I might have done to anyone. I would tell you my age but I'm not going to. And if I was 9 how would I know so much about broadway and people on broadway? But anyway, in all sincerity I am sorry.

I don't blame her. I had very few expectations. I didn't need an all-star cast featuring all my favorite performers. This just seems lackluster in comparison to the hype that originally surrounded the original announcement. I'll reserve judgment about the performers' abilities until December 15th.
I've been listening to Josefina Scaglione on her myspace and she sounds beautiful.
I'm excited for this revival.
Who knows anything about George Akram (Bernardo)?

More inspired and interesting in what way? I'm not a huge fan of Cavenaugh, but Tveit's charisma and stage presence is comparable to the drying paint of which you speak. A pretty voice and cute face, but otherwise...just beige.
The boy soprano thing has me interested. I'd like to hear that interpretation of the song. Incidentally, Leonard Bernstein coducted two recordings of Mahler's fourth symphony, which has a soprano solo in the last movement, and one recording featured a boy soprano (Helmut Wittek) and the other Reri Grist, who sang 'Somewhere' on the OBC.
By the way, something struck me as rather odd. Women in the gangs? I know they're trying to do things differently, but doesn't that just about kill the Anybodys subplot?

I disagree. Other than Alice Ripley, I thought Aaron Tveit was the best part about Next to Normal. You were drawn to his presence onstage, even in scenes where he was just lurking about, without a line of dialogue. In Hairspray, I thought he was great fun, and had excellent chemistry with Shannon Durig. I saw him in Saved, but he had nothing to do there. In Wicked, he acted and sang Fiyero better than anyone, and actually looked like he would be attending Shiz, not teaching there. He is also one of the very few Fiyeros who you don't think would rather run off with Boq than either of the witches.
LaMusicVa, I think the "girls in the gang" are referring to the jet girls and other shark girls. Such as Velma, Minnie, Graziella, margarita, teresita, etc....
Coincidentally, Matt and Aaron both graduated from the Ithaca College Musical Theatre program.
broadwaygirl99-
Someone has to clear this up for you. It pains me to see you so worried and upset over this.
You said: "I think Tom is too old but he I think he will be great."
You accidentally referred to Matt Cavenaugh as "Tom". People were just trying to clarify with you that you meant "Matt". No one is upset about anything you said, we were simply confused by the name Tom being thrown in there.
