Whoopi is an AWESOME choice! I love Rosie, but if she was to host again, it should have been last year as one of the presenters because of all the promotion of Broadway she did on The View. As for Whoopi appealing to an audience, you'd frankly be retarded not to think Whoopi didn't have a large following. She'll draw in many viewers.
Yawn.
Whoopi is a very 1990 choice.
The midwest will not care.
They should have signed the women from "Sex and the City" to host.
Great decision. I can't wait!

fflagg, the women of Sex and the City is a good idea for a presenter, not for a host. I think Whoopi is just what the Tony Awards need this year :)

No she won't.

I think she is a great!
I would love to see her take on some of the roles... She will be fabulous!
Can we hope for a new set now that we have a host?
Well they overhauled the site so maybe there will be a new set.
This is good news.
It needs higher ratings so this is a step in the right direction.

i know its not on your list but seriously, GO SEE RENT!!
Could you please not thread jack, that's just stupid.
I love Whoopi, and I think she'll be a big draw. The View is wildly popular.
The View averages approximately 3.3 million viewers. For a daily daytime television show, that's pretty good, but it's hardly going to make a big difference to the overall ratings in prime time. Also, the show's audience is made-up of people who, most likely, would be watching the Tonys anyway. If they were going for a host who would bring in a bigger and more diverse audience, they should have gotten Judge Judy!
Good choice. I'm going to my friends to watch the show. Whoopi is really funny.
I wouldn't have minded someone more Broadway as well but Whoopi will do her homework and it should be funny. I think Ellen is a great host too. So is Conan O'Brien as well.
I wonder how well Sarah Jessica Parker would do as a presenter or her husband, Matthew? I bet John Waters would be funny as a presenter. Maybe next year? He gave a great interview on Air America. He was funny and spontaneous. I bet he would do a good job as well.
I think she'll be a good host. I think shell be funny and have fun and make it an enjoyable telecast. Im looking forward to it.
So, Whoopi hosting really set the ratings world on fire, huh? Easily the worst host, ever.
