ohhh
Saw the show this afternoon with Jen DiNoia as Elphaba. She was fabulous, better than I remembered her. Ions better than Dee. DiNoia has presence and spunk. Phenomenal vocals, particularly No Good Deed. A rather weak Wizard and I (sort of nasal), but Defying Gravity more than made up for it.
As for Mackey....I neither liked nor disliked her. She's about what I would expect from the 8th replacement Glinda. She's FINE. Not one of my favorites, but not a disaster. She's definitely a huge step down from the brilliance of Alli Mauzey, but she's not a detriment to the show at all. She's perfectly ok. Nothing more, nothing less.
Kern and Brightman both sounded ill, and Brightman ended up taking the evening off, so he must have come down with something. Rondi Reed was in rare form this afternoon, even funnier (in the early scenes) than she normally is.
By the way, Roscioli was out both shows today and DiNoia was unsure if she'd be on tomorrow yet. Sounds like she caught a bug.

"She's about what I would expect from the 10th replacement Glinda."
There have only been eight principle Glindas on Broadway.
Kristin
Jennifer
Megan
Kate
Kendra
Annaleigh
Kendra (again)
Alli
Erin.
yep, 8. OH! Didn't Laura Bell have like a 3 week stint as Glinda? I thought I saw a playbill with her as the Title role with Idina. I could be wrong. Please corret me if I am.
Corrected. About what I would expect from the 8th replacement. The sentiment remains the same.

Either way, 8 in 5 years. hmmm
It's actually nearly 6 years (this Halloween).
Most end up saying less than a year. I think the only Glindas in the Broadway company a year or more are Megan and Kendra (if you count up her two stints and add them together).
If I recall correctly, the playbills with LBB were from when Kristin took a few days off to do Candide.
Ahh. ok. And I thought Megan only did less thana year as full time Glinda. She took over JLT in September (with Shoshana) then Shoshana left in January and Eden came in. Then Megan's last show was in may? Yet again, Could (and probably am) be wrong.
Megan Hilty appears to have done exactly a year. The one thing Witches of Oz is good for is their extensive cast replacement data base:
Megan Hilty replaced Jennifer Laura Thompson as Glinda on May 31, 2005
Kate Reinders replaced Megan Hilty as Glinda on May 30, 2006.

I saw Erin on Sunday and thought she was the best Glinda I have ever seen and I saw 9 of them. Better than Alli IMO(but I think Katie Adams, Katie Rose Clarke and Laura Woyasz are better also).Jen was better then the last time I saw her(She wasn't feeling well that show) but she lost her voice by No Good Deed and was appologizing to everyone at stagedoor because of it. Adam Fleming was on as Boq and he plays him really creepy. Nothing like Alex who plays it more like puppy love.
Looks like Dee and Alex are both sick. Kristen(the witches mom must be too or either on vacation)
"She's definitely a huge step down from the brilliance of Alli Mauzey, but she's not a detriment to the show at all."
This is by no means an attack, merely a question. I personally didn't enjoy Alli Mauzey's performance as Glinda but that was just a personal opinion. I found her very funny in What is this Feeling, Popular, etc, but had trouble taking her seriously in some of the other scenes. I also didn't particularly enjoy her voice and thought she sounded a little strained in her upper register. I would be interested in hearing what you enjoyed about her.
"If I recall correctly, the playbills with LBB were from when Kristin took a few days off to do Candide."
I thought they were printed when LBB was set to take over.
^^^^^
I'd kill for one then. lol

I am going to see wicked on tour again, last time when I bought the tickets for the tour we did it online and literally the second they were on sale. And i still ended up with some ok seats, I was row U in the center orchestra, I would just like to get some better seats this time around. Do you know if I would get better tickets by buying online, from the actual theater, or ticket master? They go on sale September 19th.
Or any other tips that would help me get good seats would help, btw I am sitting alone. Please and Thank you :)
