Unlike say Katie Adams who has stood by for a lot of the Broadway/tour runs & still has no principle role to show for it.
There are other reasons Katie Adams was never bumped up. She was not a very good standby, in that she was rarely around when they needed her.

And you know that how?

From what I heard, she just happen to be on a vacation every time a principle got sick. A vacation the producers gave her.

Thank goodness cristy candler is leaving, by far the most boring person that was on stage. There was nothing memorible about her. A very dull nessarose

I guess you didn't get to meet her backstage? Just wait until you see Michelle if you think Cristy is boring.
Val, you've never seen Michelle Federer play Nessarose. The 5th Anniversary concert doesn't count.
Michelle was much better in the original Broadway cast days, because once new people took over and years passed, she got bored very quickly and basically sleep-walked through the whole show.
Cristy Candler is a great Nessa rose.

she was just very boring, the last nessarose i saw (Jacqueline Graziano) was an understudy and she had a more lasting impression. i love michelles voice on the cd, though i havnt seen her acting

I am very glad I saw her! But why do you say that? I loved her, she had a great voice and was a great actor. I met her at the stage door, she was so nice, I even got an autographed photo from her.

because the person she was on for is the worst Nessa I ever saw.
I saw WICKED last night and Michelle Federer came out of the stage door and was chatting with some cast/crew. I guess she is watching the show this week to "relearn" the role (though I'm sure she remembers it well).

yeah she was in for Kristine Reese. I have seen a few videos on her and she doesn't sound that great. So I have decided to email Jacqueline and tell her to audition for Broadway.
and WithoutATrace that would make sense about Michelle because when I went backstage on Saturday (while Alli was still playing that part of Glinda) Erin Mackey was there.

I think it is a standard that when someone comes into a cast even if they have done the show before that watch the show for about a week or two.

yeah, makes sense, i wonder who made the video

Nicole was literally the first Elphaba to have not played the part previously in some capacity. I think JLT was the only "fresh" Glinda.

On broadway yes, On tour, Katie Rose Clarke, and Christina Deccico both never had experiance playing the part before they were cast.
Isn't Helene new as well?
I think they meant the Broadway company. The tours have gotten a lot of new people.
