re: WISHFUL DRINKING - First Preview

I got this in response to my letter. It's not a stamp like I got from Dean Cain that same year but hand signed.

"All our dreams can come true -- if we have the courage to pursue them." -- Walt Disney We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".

I wasn't sure if I would go see this or not, but these positive reviews are convincing so far. I think I may have to see this now.

I don't think anyone even bothered to ask- you could tell she was not feeling it.

This show is AMAZING!! GO GO GO to Studio 54. You don't have to know anything about Carrie. The only thing to prepare for is laughing all night. The woman is a comedic wonder. I haven't laughed this hard in the theater since Boeing Boeing.

I hope this is one of the hits of the fall. You are seriously missing out if you don't go see this show.

I went. This was my first time seeing a first preview.

I absolutely loved the show! Carrie was hilarious and seemed like she was having a ball. I brought a friend of mine who only knows her from "Star Wars" and is quite an afficianado of film scores and franchises, and he thoroughly enjoyed the show as well. Wonderful self-deprecating humor with little pearls of wisdom peppered throughout. I am very glad I went and hope to go back at least once more with my mom, who I know is guaranteed to find it a great way to spend two hours.

They need to release this script ASAP. There are so many quotable lines in the show. My favorite may have been "Flies have as much a chance of landing on s*** as landing on pie!"

I can't stop raving about this show. So happy for all involved.

COUNT ME IN as having enjoyed it. Went into the theatre knowing (1) Shes the Star Wars babe (2) She has addiction problems (3) And shes bi-polar

Left the theatre completely entertained. She has SUCH A NATURAL stage-presence. Talked to us like we were old friends.

Some great zingers. Well-staged. Great use of visual-aids (projections behind her) and loved Hollywood Inbreeding 101.

Was fun having a toast at dinner before the show, raised our beers: "To wishful drinking!" (And snorting the ground-up Codine in the bathroom during intermission made it even more of a fun evening)

Great seeing Ben & Alberto too!

Hate to be the one who asks this, but does she still look basically the same as at the Tonys? I was a little worried about what the reaction would be when people see she doesn't exactly look like the promo pictures from earlier in the run...

To quote her tonight: "Dont judge the house... but the furniture!"

Shes a bigger lady now (alcoholism and sanity-meds will do that to you).

WhizzerMarvin, the show is based on her book by the same name, so that might have what you're looking for, although I'm sure the show has marked differences.

At first I thought the people she interacted with were planted in the audience, but I honestly don't think they were. At the most, they were tapped on the shoulder before the show. The only thing that had me skeptical was how well the one guy that came onstage projected his voice. Either way, though, totally fun night.

In what honestly looks like one of the most boring seasons to hit the Great White Way in years, this is one show I will go back to again and again. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I had such a great time from curtain up to curtain down. One of those nights you just wish would never end. :)

This show was so good I can actually forgive The Roundabout for Bye Bye Birdie. My sides still hurt from laughing!

Count me in with all the raves as well. It was a wonderful evening. Carrie is a great story-teller and makes you feel like you are in her living room. So personable, so natural, so witty and just damn funny.

There wasn't any merchandise available last night, but with all of the branding and jokes she made about retail throughout her life, Roundabout would be stupid not to have merchandise for this show. I'm really surprised that her book or pez dispensers, at the very least, weren't being sold.

What an absolutely wonderful night at the theater. Carrie was spot-on and delivered with amazing comedic poise.

My only disparaging comment about the entire show is that the Star Wars material, for which most of the audience would know her, seemed to be the weakest portion of the very strong show. Hollywood Inbreeding & Rehab portions were outstanding and sprinkled with insightful tidbits and anecdotes whereas the Star Wars section felt more like complaining with a side of mud-slinging.

Again, the show was very good, therefore even the "weakest" would be considered head and shoulders above some other shows.
