Sounds great! It's a shame that they recorded so early and didn't get to preserve the new "Worst Day of My Life" and the duet version of "Home", but I'm still excited for it.
It's kind of sad because I bet a lot of tourists will be disappointed in the CD. The duet version of "Home" is probably one of the main songs they might want to hear again and they may buy the cast recording for that reason and then be disappointed to find that it's not there.
Too bad the producers of Wonderland aren't the same guys that produced Shrek. Seems like every time there was a change to the Shrek score it got recorded and released as a single on itunes.

I agree on so many levels. Of course if they were the same guys, we'd have a (more) massive, lavish spectacle of Wonderland. Also, nothing can beat the spectacular quality of the Shrek OBCR. People have shat on the score, but it sounded absolutely gorgeous on the album.
Just a side note- is there an ensemble on this cast recording? I was on another message board and someone commented that they were afraid that 'they did not record with the ensemble.'
The new "Worst Day of My Life" was in the show from the first preview, but they still decided not to record it. The song is much better on the concept recording anyways.
"Movies will make you famous; television will make you rich; but theatre will make you good." - Terrence Mann.
Janet sounds great on that "Finding Wonderland" sample. and I forgot how good Carly is too. Can't they just do what Spider-man is doing and fix it up a little?
Didn't they record before previews started? I don't remember. There could have been a different opening in place prior to the first preview.
Correct, they recorded the weekend of March 5th/6th, and first preview was March 21st. (I don't know the answer to the question as to if there was ever a different opening other than Worst Day, though.)
I'm sure that might be the concept album on itunes but can you post a link please. I saw on another forum that the theatre might have the cast recording for sale on Monday.
There's no show on Monday, but yes some of the Wonderland merch people have said they expect to have it for sale at the theatre next week, a week before the release date.
The concept album is on iTunes currently, not the Broadway version.
It's definitely worth the price for some of the songs, most notably: -"Worst Day of My Life" as a high-energy, uptempo rock opener by Janet Dacal -"Love Begins" - A nice love duet, and some of Jack Murphy's best lyrics ever -"Don't Wanna Fall in Love" - Which was once again cut for Broadway, yet is still somehow playing outside the theatre. Fun, rock tune that remains a fan favourite
It's also fun to see the different interpretations of Nikki Snelson (more fun than Shindle) or Tad Wilson whose role of the Jabberwock was cut ("Misunderstood" - another good one).
The boyband definitely would've recorded, as well as the the three girls singing "Drink Me" (Natalie Hill, Morgan James and I'm forgetting the last one - the Ladies in Waiting for the Queen).
I'm sure the seven of them make up the ensemble, and based on the "Welcome to Wonderland" clip they just had the other cast members (Danny Stiles, Edward Staudenmeyer, etc) sing with them on the track. Who knows...
There's only two real chorus songs - "Welcome to Wonderland," Mad Tea Party scene and "Heroes." The others could be done with the smaller ensemble I'm sure (ie: Voices in "Advice from a Caterpillar" or back ups on "Go With The Flow"). Updated On: 4/24/11 at 02:17 PM
I think there is Ensemble. On Heather Parcells Facebook a few weeks back when the recorded she said "Recorded Wonderland's original broadway cast album today." And I know she is a member of the Ensemble so Im pretty sure they did.

Where is this 'the ensemble didn't record' info coming from? Because http://yfrog.com/hsh9liij http://plixi.com/p/84110419 (and those are just the ones I could find off the top of my head- I know there are other photos of the 'boy band' recording, etc.)
