Shame about Worst Day. Although, I did always find it slightly odd to start a musical with someone singing about how crappy and terrible their day is going to be.
The new worst day is terrible... I'm glad it's not on there. I wish they had recorded the revamped "Worst Day" from Tampa '11.
Very excited for "Heroes"... It's a beautiful song, too bad that they cut it for Broadway (for a bizarre reprise of "Home" that makes you not feel for the characters anyway).
It was too long. It was originally merged with a "she doesn't got it anymore" type number smack in the middle and it lasted a total of 12-13 minutes. This past year they weaved the ensemble song into "Worst Day" and made the opening about 4 minutes, then had "Home" then they were off to Wonderland. The goal seemed to be get to Wonderland as quick as possible!
Well already "Home" (opener) is gone, "Heroes" is gone but the rest seems to be in check.
They changed the overture last night/this week, so it's a shame it'll be just the "chase" music. There's an actual entr'acte now too, too bad that will also go unrecorded.
The "Home" reprise I'm guessing was a mini-Alice moment (which would work better/link the two together but I'm guessing they threw out the idea of Alice/Chloe having some issues as well which is bizarre).
"Home" is now sung as an "In His Eyes" from J&H type song... Chloe sings next to one of the permanent doors in her bedroom and Alice sings it in Wonderland.
I really don't understand why they couldn't wait to record this after opening. They already have the concept recording to sell at the theater during previews. And they could send Tony voters a rough cut even after recording late March/early April.

It makes some sense to record before. Since it's an ever-changing progress they were doomed to record something anyway so it does save some money. Wildhorn's albums are produced the way he produces - aka the songs can stand by themselves as songs not part of a continuous show so I have no doubt it would've been different anyway. It makes the album sound better.
Also somewhat off-topic, but I'm sure Dacal will sound phenomenal on the recording as from the performances I saw her voice sounded much weaker than usual (It sounds like there's a sickness going around backstage though).
There was a song called "Heros" in the show when I saw it, and it wasn't just a Home reprise (or atleast it felt like a whole new song). I'll get this album. I remember when I saw this thinking that I will probably get the recording. I'm a sucker for some of that mindless pop.
I think the show could stand to have more time in the real world. One of the problems I saw with the show is they didn't establish enough of a plot back in her world. It certainly didn't run long.
Yes - Overture is now "I Am My Own Invention" (the bit of the music that used to open the show in the world premiere) and it's still "The Chase" music (which was the old overture).
Entr'Acte is now "Welcome to Wonderland," "Home," and the ending of "Through the Looking Glass" as opposed to just a baby intro of "TTLG." (Curtain call music was also tweaked, should any one care - Darren comes out to "One Knight")
Are you sure "Heroes" was back in? The "Home (Reprise)" was all the same characters listed for "Heroes," but it wasn't back in the last time I caught the show on Thursday. It's a great song, shows how Wildhorn can capture emotion beautifully. Definitely my top 3 favorite song in the show, I was disappointed to see it not in it yet.
BWAYToday - I like the more out of Wonderland scenes too, but it's something the producers/old creatives wanted to eliminate. THey wanted to be in Wonderland as quick as possible. The old opening scene was about 15 minutes (at a rooftop party, and Apartment 8A) with two songs. They cut it down for Houston, and then for the last Tampa go they had about 7 minutes or so ("Worst Day" for Alice in an office board room, and Chloe at the apartment singing "Home").
Yeah, I kind of wished there was more of that. I think it would better establish why she needs to be "in" Wonderland. Why is it important she is going on this journey? All I know that there is a song called "Heros" listed in the playbill, and I didn't really recognize it as a "Home" reprise, but Anakela said that it was not and has never been in it, and I take their word for it. I have never even heard the song "Heros" as it were.
I hope they put "Heroes" back before opening night. And would it be too much to ask to give her a reason to initially go to Wonderland? What was so terrible about her trying to find Chloe? At least it was something.

Ha, thanks? :) And this is where that mention of Heroes was! I knew I'd read it, but couldn't figure out where when I was posting in the other thread last night... the second act is short, they could totally put Heroes back in at the end (and lose Home (Reprise)? Was there a Home (Reprise) in Tampa '11? No, right?)
