Told you all . "Heroes" is a beautiful tune, one of Wildhorn's best.
They play "Finding Wonderland," "Through the Looking Glass," and "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" by the box office (by the hotel). They play "I Will Prevail," "Through The Looking Glass" (montage), "One Knight," and "Finding Wonderland" on the Times Square side with video footage.
Here's a nice video of the Wonderland recording session. As for some of the criticisms regarding autotuning, etc, I wouldn't hold too much weight in a low bitrate audio stream from Masterworks' website. That's not a fair assessment of the true audio/voice quality of the CD. The Making of the Wonderland - Original Broadway Cast Recording
I love my Tampa world premiere one.. I just like that logo so much better!
Thanks for posting the video - I don't think all the songs necessarily sound bad with the tuning program they used, but some of them are pretty bad. Some of the quick cuts are a disaster too.
Does anyone know why this isn't available for download on iTunes? I was looking forward to downloading it tonight, but it's not there. Guess it's time to order the actual album.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I think we can all admit that the book (and some of the sets) are a big problem holding this show back, but after seeing it a few times and now listening to the recording as well, I can confidently say that WONDERLAND was unfairly left out of the Tony Awards race. It's unfortunate, because although imperfect, when the show and music works, it can be a very heart-warming, fun piece. The recording isn't necessarily consistent, but it sure makes for one hell of a listen! I truly hope this show beats the odds and is able to pull through. At least it's beat one of the Best Musical nominees for number of performances!
THAT'S a problem. You shouldnn't need to see a show a few times to find out it's good or worthy or heart warming. MOST people see a show only once and that's what it will be judged on.
I haven't seen the show and have no opinion on it's quality, I'm making a general statement. Many friends kept teling me to go back and re visit shows I didn't care for.....but why? (Rent and American Idiot come to mind.) Sure, I MIGHT get something out of it I didn't the first, but more likely, I will be further annoyed by having to sit through it again and still be unimpressed.
I see shows more than once, but only shows I LOVED the first time. If you can't "grab me" with the first viewing, you don't deserve my money or a second chance.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

American Idiot! Sorry, sometimes I feel like the only person who didn't enjoy it.
I could see seeing something again you didn't care for the first time if the show has changed- for example, I like the current version of Wonderland more than I liked the first preview version of Wonderland (sorry).
But then again sometimes the opposite happens- friends of mine all loved a show that I didn't care for, convinced me to see it again since I'd seen it in previews, it's not fair to judge previews, yadda yadda. And so I saw it again. And apparently sometime in previews they'd taken out one song I could actually remember liking! So not only did I still not like it, I was also bummed that this song was gone too.

I thought I'd managed my expectations for the nominations, but... costumes. I still can not fathom costumes! But, it is what it is.
I think Kate's costumes (like everyones) are hit or miss. Janet Dacal's outfit is "trendy" but still kind of ugly. Kate's got two beautiful costumes and then that hideous "gladiator" thing that the reviews related to a dominatrix outfit. Don't forget about the fembots either!!
I will forever love the Queen's main black & white card shuffle one. Someone in the audience went "Whoa" when she came out in the other one!
I don't think Janet's costume is 'ugly,' but I kind of always thought that was the point, that Alice's is the 'ordinary' wardrobe in the land of Wonderland, because that's how she sees herself ("big disappointment to myself too"), because she's the boring grownup who needs to find her inner child, etc.
Kate's I *love*, all three of them- I totally see her costumes as a progression of the Hatter's evil.
(Random aside: Heather Parcells only had the one costume, the first Mad Hatter one, when she went on on Tuesday night - not sure if that's a 'the others weren't finished' thing, or a 'the u/s Hatters will only have one costume' thing, but I missed the Red Queen dress something fierce that night. Anyway...)
And Karen's Act II dress, I've been there nights where I swear that dress received some entrance applause.
I just listened and don't get what people like about Heros. It's not dramatic and truthfully that's the problem with the whole score. Some nice tunes here and there but no sense of drama. I do like "Finding Wonderland". But to me the whole score is a yawn.
N2-- Have you seen the show? I only ask because there are a few "crowd pleasers" that are better live, and, at least for me, it made me like the score even more---
