ugh.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I was so hoping Priscilla would play at the Marquis but I guess the rumors about the Palace were correct.

I saw it Drunk Chita, and I still say "ick."
I'm sure there have been rewrites and work, but I say with no hyperbole at all that it was one of the most awful nights in the theatre I've experienced. The book is easily among the five worst I've ever seen - witless, pointless, boring, incoherent, stupid.

Some shows have possibilities, some have none. This one SEEMS to be the latter. But who knows?

I'm excited if only for Janet Dacal. I love a few of the ballads, hate a few other songs, but I guess I'll see when the time comes!

Seriously, this has disaster written all over it. Bad from conception to execution. How much money has been sunk into it thus far? Even if it wasn't awful it would still not be able to stand up to the competition that's forthcoming, I would imagine.

Does this mean that the Marquis Theater in the heart of Times Square will sit vacant for over SIX MONTHS?

sadly, yes. and considering how bad this may be, it could sit vacant from May 2011 until Fall 2011, as well.

^Accoridng to the theatre's contract with the Marquis hotel, they NEED to have a show running every six months... So... expect something else to open for the Holiday slot...

I don't think so. 6 months ends on March 5th. I'm sure they have an agreement with the hotel for that 2 weeks until Wonderland opens.

No the fact that it will not recoup its budget and close early like "9 to 5," (which was good) "Cry Baby," and "Come Fly Away." "Thoroughly Modern Millie" ran for two years at the Marquis Theatre but it did not recoup its budget either.

Do I think this show will be a runaway hit? No. It definitely won't be closing overnight either. Even aside from my Wildhorn fanatic standpoint (& his fans alone would keep this show open through at least the Tony awards. ie: The Civil War), it's got a brand name, and even with horrid reviews, a show can still run off the name of the show (Ie: The addams Family).
The show has been reworked a LOT. They did a reading of it this summer to attract new investors to the project... the response was "overwhelming" and plenty of the investors pushed the show for Broadway now.
The opening has been worked on, the essential family story has been more detailed, songs cut, songs removed, songs placed bck in, etc.
As for the Marquis, they did have that random "Soul of Shaolin" or whatever it was that played there for a few weeks. I don't think necessary it has to be a BROADWAY show playing at the Marquis. Perhaps they'll get something like that to go in for the holidays or whatever.

Being a fan of frank, I look forward to it.
The reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. His show play all over the world so i am quite sure he will not be selling pencils anytime soon. Truth be told, i prefer him over ALW & a few others.
