Sony Pictures doesn't have it listed under the releases for February 21st, so I don't know why you would trust "Davis DVD"'s information over theirs.

uh, the movie didn't suck, and the word "flop" is not appropriate. The movie is nothing but a success to me.

This movie was greatly loved by many people. I doubt if most of the movies making more at the box office this year were loved nearly so well. Sneer away guys, you'll never take that away from it.

Though at present, this date is totally unconfirmed, I'd LOVE it if it was true ! Means I won't have to wait for the theatrical release in April here. This waiting is killing me !!!!!!!!

The movie did suck. One of the worst I have seen this year.

Now, I haven't been following The Producers movie threads, but I know enough to know their reviews aren't glowing. I don't want to start any crap in those threads, but my point is, as far as I know, we've been leaving those alone. Why perpetuate this pointlessness? Let the fans love RENT.

No offense or debate intended, but most of the people who LOVED the film and saw little flaw in it, are rentheads to begin with. EVERYONE who I have spoken with who doesn't know the show or kinda knows the show, plus most of the critics, hated it. Why do you think it's coming to DVD 3 months after its release?

for the record, HALF the critics hated it. the other half ADORED it. And my family members who saw the movie who arent fans loved it too, so...

XD I really honestly don't care if critics or whatever hated RENT, Bobby. I understand and accept the mass reactions and don't deny that it could have stood to do a lot better in theaters.
I just don't think it's necessary anymore for people to leap in and make comments just to stir a debate up. It's been done about 20 times over on this board already... *Sigh*

I don't think adore is the right word the use for the critics that had positive things to say about Rent.
I think you may be letting your love of Rent cloud your judgement of the actual product, or more-so, the general publics reception of the film.

The Hollywood Reporter reviewer definitely adored it, and so did some lesser-known ones. I think your experience is not necessarily typical. I have two friends who knew nothing about the show and loved the movie. There have also been a number of posts on IMDb and CB from other newcomers who loved it. Not all Rentheads loved it either, they are somewhat split about it too.
