...?
Tour shows very rarely cast a name these days and the production has already been cast.
Also Stamos did end up doing Wonka so.......

Fair point on the tour being cast.
And Stamos doing Wonka at the Hollywood bowl NEVER came up in that thread.
Don't get me wrong, I think the prospect of Mraz coming into the Broadway cast is great. Even more so if the rest of the rumor pans out and Sara eventually joins as well.
If/Then definitely needed Idina to sell their show, but maybe that's a special case.

Clearly the experts on this board have indicated that tours never need stars.
Jason Mraz' music on still on the radio constantly. Mind you, it's the soft-rock stations. But guess what? Those have the best ratings. (And that's also where Sara's music plays mostly.) So it's a perfect choice for the audience of this show.

I had heard a while back that Sara is planning on coming back, after Betsy leaves.

I actually agree with everyone here, but I mean... having a star for the tour definitely isn't going to hurt your ticket sales. Dolly on tour without Bette Midler wouldn't crash and burn, but would it get more ticket sales at higher prices? Hell yeah.
Ok but the tour has been cast already, so I don't understand why we're still talking about this. Most tours do not cast names. It's a fact. It doesn't hurt to have them, but it isn't a necessity the way it is on Broadway. Also, If/Then needed Idina because she was all the show had going for itself.
PS, I'm pretty sure that Stamos wasn't mentioned for the Hollywood Bowl because that production wasn't even announced yet. Everyone just knew that he would likely be playing Wonka somewhere, and it was safe to assume that he would be joining the Broadway company.

Clue #3 is an avacado. A reference to Jason Mraz's avacado farm?
Honestly, on day 1, they should have just taken out a piece of paper that said "JASON MRAZ IS JOINING WAITRESS." These clues are dead giveaways, lol.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know he sang on the album but I feel like he would make a more believable Earl than Dr. Pomatter. Hopefully they update the information about how long all the main cast members will be in the show with this announcement so I can decide who to go back to see. Unless Sara comes back, I think 3 trips to Waitress is enough for me.

Really? I would never believe Mraz as a bad guy in a million years. Also waiting to find out something definitive about when they'll have a set cast for awhile.

But you believe him as a nerdy, awkward doctor?

To me that's different from playing an East Coaster who went to medical school. He's from Virginia. To me, it's less of a stretch for him to swagger around and yell a bit to play Earl. He seems too chill to play anxious and I find it difficult to picture him as the doctor type.
