Very interesting connection -- seems a bit far fetched, but cool.
They really need a good name because the show material is mediocre at best. Betsy didn't cut it.

Maybe Sara will rejoin the cast if Jason Mra joins? Or they find another Broadway-name Jenna, like a Lindsay Mendez or Ruthie Ann Miles?

All the pregnancy speculation on the Betsy Departing Carousel thread and not one person on here guessing that yet?
The first line of the article literally reads: “...Waitress is *expecting*...” Maybe I’m wrong but it seems logical.

I agree that that's more of a Betsy than a Waitress announcement, but Greased is onto something for sure. Why would they write "*expecting*" with asterisks?

I'm gonna go with what wssinsder said. They've been right about a lot of stuff before. Also they could have done the expecting thing because waitress is about a pregnant waitress and she has an affair with her doctor. Just saying

I mean, it's not like Ingrid Michaelson has been churning out hit after hit, and we saw how much she helped the box office at Great Comet. Jason Mraz is probably of similar appeal.

Because the show is literally about a woman who finds out she is *expecting* a baby? This seems like a stretch.
Those of you thinking new Pomatter...go with that feeling.

Jason Mraz has a very nice and clear voice, he also sounds great live so I think he would definitely suit well for Broadway.
Not a huge fan of the show though, while I enjoy the story, I thought the music was not very good. Was excited to go see the show since I loved that song they did at the Tonys (She used to be mine?) but thought the rest of the score was not really memorable.

Because their show involves the lead character getting pregnant. Because the lead male character is an OB/GYN. Because someone was being punny and didn't think the internet would be so creepy about it.
Actually, Ingrid Michaelson has been churning out modest hits and she regularly does concerts, at least in NY. I'm not sure if Jason Mraz has been touring much lately.
Whatever happens, I hope they finally announce how long Betsy is going to be playing Jenna.

As already guessed, yes. It's Mraz joining. I do believe Sara will join him at some point. Maybe they'll announce that, too. He will sell tix for a month worth of shows but that's probably it.

Seems more likely than a Broadway run...especially after this board was mostly certain that John Stamos was announcing he'd be doing Wonka here...

^they already have a cast for the tour. I don’t why you think this casting is more likely for the touring version, when touring shows don’t need a star in the show.
