Waitress National Tour Fires Actor Over Weight?

Kyra Kennedy, previously in the ensemble of the Waitress National Tour posted this on Instagram. People have been speculating she was fired because of her weight/size. The post reads:
“Dear Baby,

I hope someday you find the power in yourself to say no to what no longer serves you. I hope someday you recognize that beautiful diamond within your soul and protect it - not for anyone but yourself. I hope you are able to discern what is for you and what is not.
I hope your next job judges you not on the size of your bust or the curve of your hips but in the way your mind works and your voice makes music. I hope you find people that celebrate your uniqueness and love the person you are - not just the product you produce or whether or not you “play the game” the best.
Even this, even now - how thankful am I to learn all of this and walk out of the diner with some lifelong friends and leaving with more faith in myself than I ever did before. May we all be so lucky.
I hope you find a place that celebrates uniqueness, not mediocrity, and I hope you become addicted, baby.

I dont think she was fired. I think she left, and I think shes just saying the next job she goes too she hopes she isnt judged by weight.

So you think she left, and coincidentally posted soon after that she hopes at her next job she isn’t judged for her weight? Wouldn’t it seem the two are somehow related? She also liked a tweet saying the ‘Waitress’ team treats women like “sh**” and tweeted that women are “so much more than the number on their size and bra.” With Desi Oakley extending unexpectedly at the same time of her leaving, I am really curious if Kyra was supposed to be the next Jenna but there was a sudden change. I have no knowledge of this being the case but am wondering.

Oh dang. I didnt know about the tweet liking.

Also I highly doubt she would be the next Jenna, I think its Ana Villanfane. She was rumored to be Jenna at the start of the tour, it makes sense. Her off broadway show just got extended by a few weeks. Even if its not Ana, it wouldnt have been Kyra. They need a name as Jenna.

Ooh her show extension could explain Desi staying. Although I don’t really think the tour needs a “name” as Jenna- Desi hadn’t led a Broadway/tour company before other than as Eva alternate and I think the show’s been doing really well on the road.

She doesn't necessarily say she was fired. She could've left because of this treatment. Maybe she was in fact the next Jenna and they told her to lose weight for the role and it upset her. I don't know, but there's nothing in here that alludes to a firing, just a mistreatment of her due to her size.

I get it. But that's what this industry is. The pretty, lean people will always win. It doesn't matter about talent. That's what it is. You can either fight or be about it. It sucks, but you can't break the system unless you're in the system.

SH*Tty thing for them to do. It’s super weird though that she’s liked tweets that she wasn’t even tagged in, where users even asterisked part of her name out. It’s never nit amusing to me to see celebs search their names I could never do that if I was in the public light. It’s b too nerve wracking lol.

Y'all dont even know if she was fired or told to lose weight or even if her weight was ever mentioned.

Hell, looking at her pictures she isnt even overweight. She may not be a size zero but she's doesn't seem to even be "chubby".

It may have happened, sure, but truth is - we have no idea.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Nobody was fired. She finished out her contract and - like most performers - decided to move on to other things.
And for what it’s worth, I assure you that one doesn’t need her/his looks criticized by the Waitress producers to not like them.

Err, considering this is written to parallel the monologue Jenna has to her unborn baby, that seems to skew things to being what she hopes will come next. Not reading it as being fired or that waitress had a problem with her...

I don't think she was fired. Her contract was up. She is tall and curvy but definitely not fat. A few of the ladies on that tour are curvy and not stick thin.

She was the only one of the several Jenna understudies to never go on, so maybe some ill feelings about that, but I don’t think she was fired.

And I think Desi extending has more to do with the fact that her replacement *just* started rehearsal, for whatever reason.

Even if the subject were true, this isn't atypical in the entertainment industry where appearance is everything. Go to a casting call and just look at how many people are "typed" out without even auditioning. The Lion King fires people all the time over weight issues (and rumor has it they post notices when this happens. The isn't "breaking" news or anything.

Neither Desi Oakley nor Ana Villafane are “names.” Don’t be ridiculous.

Sarah Bareilles is a name. Not those two ladies, however talented they may be.
