My school has a student written/directed one-act play festival every year and this year, these two guys wrote a one-act musical about Zombies. It was called Zombies! The Musical. It actually turned out REALLY well.

"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being." --Phylicia Rashad

how about 24: the musical

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

American Idol: the Musical.

That one would get away with having a bad score and a talentless cast...

Ha. A friend of mine actually had the idea to make AI: the musical...in her defense, it would have been a farce!

I saw an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer that was a musical. It actualy worked pretty well and some of the songs were really catchy. What happened was they were under a spell and went through daily life singing showtunes..it was pretty funny.

Thats kinda how my day is everyday though, so it wasnt that strange for me.

Didn't Mike Meyers say that he wanted to turn Austin Powers into a musical a few years ago? I thought I saw it pop up on MTV a few years ago. I saw Goldmember for about the gajillionth (yes, the gajillionth time) last night and it was hillarious. Mike Meyers is brilliant in my opinion, and I bet he could make it work.

I'd say "Are You Afraid Of The Dark : The Musical"

I can just see it now... "And now, the tale of the midnight society." Psh-what nerds...even though that show used to scare the crap out of me when I was younger. haha

CATS, of course.

Really, I don't think there's anything that people won't turn into a musical nowadays. Just look at Good Vibrations....

I'm glad SOMEONE finally mentioned CATS. What a stupid idea for a musical.

I'm actually a fan of Pleasantville The Musical. I've been thinking that would make a great musical for years, as long as people figure out how to pull off the color transformation. That's a toughie.

GypsyRoseLee, there's actually a musical called Zombie Prom that played Off-Broadway.

And let's not forget Carrie... R.I.P.

These are the worst musical ideas I can come up with:

Dolphins! - This musical would be simmilair to Cats, but it would tell the story of a tribe of anthropomorphic dolphins. It would be performed by actors in wetsuits, in a swimming pool.

Science Class: The Musical: This show would include such songs as "Photosynthesis Will Make The Flowers Grow" and "I am the Frog You Disected".

Puberty: The Musical: This musical would be about the changes that young people undergo, as they enter puberty.

Flying Vampires: The musical - Lets cut all pretenses of a plot, and make a musical about the true stars of Broadway's Dracula... that's right, the vampire brides! Two hours of watching three vamp brides fly at different angles while chanting stuff.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

Ooh, I LOVED Pleasantville. That reminds me that I have a project due in Theater Arts over a favorite movie of mine, Pleasantville. That movie was absolutely brilliant. When I first saw it, I didn't understand it because I was like 9 at the time, but I loved the symbolism.
