If that was an attempt to lure Anthony back, then sorry but I have an answer. If you just wanted an answer, here ya go: Chris said they were completely surprised by the PG-13 rating. They were not trying to make it PG-13 and had assumed it would be R. They were shocked when MPAA didn't give it an R rating. So he didn't change anything in the hopes of getting a PG-13 rating.
haha damn, someone come back with a better question to lure anthony to this thread. *thinks hard*. LOL

Um, well - it wasn't exactly an attempt to lure him back, per say, since we all know he still reads up. I have just been seriously wondering about it, and kept meaning to ask. I don't buy the answer you said...the film business doesn't exactly work like that - He would not have limited the number of times they curse in the film for example, if he was expecting the R-rating. PG-13 films can get away with I believe two heavy curses, like the F word, and a few sh*ts. It doesn't seem logical that he wouldn't have known they were going to give him the PG-13. There's more violence on television shows. -- Thanks for the answer, but it is directed towards Anthony, I'm aware he probably won't ever get to see it. Unless anyone else has a valid answer...I mean, yes, you may have read up on something where Chris said he was expecting an R-rating, but I think that's basically BS.

Hey guys! Yeeeesh. I'm back after a long and sucky day, filled with lots of Rent conversations (actually, only, like, two, but that's okay) and getting bad grades on projects and Show Choir practice.
My most favoritest thing in the whole wide world.
Can you smell the sarcasm, kiddies? Yeah, I really hate Show Choir because everyone's in it even though they don't like performing arts, so we suck and no one pays attention. ANYWAY, back on topic. You can't really say that renthead's answer is BS unless you actually read something else somewhere, know what I mean? But I don't want to get into this, I try to avoid conflict.
Haha well I didn't mean for it to be a conflict in the first place! If I came off as rude or angry or anything, I didn't mean to at all. I was just giving you an answer to the best of my knowledge and no, I don't think it is bs, but I can only go by what they tell us, which of course could be a lie. They didn't cut curse words, did they? Dmb I really didn't want to start anything and maybe you didn't mean for your reply to sound kind of confrontational, but I was just trying to give you an answer, I promise!

Oh! Yeah, I'm sorry too...It just felt like you were trying to brush off my question as not important...Sorry, it's all good. I have only <3 for the people here. --- But yeah, they did limit the number of curses. The homeless lady didn't curse at all, and they did that for a reason. To stay within the number they're allowed to still be PG-13. At least, that makes the most sense. I think Chris wanted an R-rating to begin with, but knew that if they went with the PG-13 they would be able to bring in a wider audience, larger demographic, and ultimately more money. A lot of movies that are on the line between the two ratings do this, they go for the softer rating.
But like I said, this just makes the most sense to me. I was just hoping for some sort of confirmation from someone who would know for sure. ...So ok, I'll try to lure Anthony back in in the process. lol

Check your PM's, renthead... muahahaha!
And, uh, sorry I kinda made you guys apologize to each for nothing, haha. We know we all love each other. I guess we'll never really know the truth... *ending a la Twilight Zone*

Well I'm already excited about this PM because there's an evil laugh attached to it's anouncement, which is a wonderful thing in itself.
And yes dmb, there is only love on this side too. I do think the question is important and would love to know a real answer, as it seems strange that one minute they were so sure they were getting an R rating and the next thing they know it got PG-13. It seems like they must have cut something or changed something they were planning on showing.

yeah..sorry about that, i didn't mean what she was saying was BS...i mean, i didn't mean it that way...i meant that what she had read seemed like BS.... <3 it's all good!
Now YOU have a PM, elphatine. Muahahahaha! Evil laughs are superfun. I can't pull one off in real life, though, sadly.

honestly, it was probably just that chris was planning or hoping on making it an r-rating, but once they got into production realized it would be better as pg-13? i dunno. but gotta go for now. talk later!

Evil laughs make everything better, just like Band-Aids!
Haha, don't worry dmb, I know what you mean, I do that a lot. I'm not holding a grudge or anything. <33!
Yea dmb I hear you. You weren't saying "No stop feeding me bs." You were just saying that the info released by Chris was probably bs. Right? Hopefully... but perhaps I AM feeding you bs. Muahahaha. Yessss elphatine, a relevant time for the evil laugh to be used.

Yeah, I can't do it in real life either. I always end up coughing or something, haha. Glad we got that cleared up. *grabs hands of thread members and sings Who song from "How the Grinch Stole Xmas"*
Haha, I dunno. I just like that song. And it's represents peace, I guess... with the... giving back... of Xmas... you know... *shuts up*
Wow, that was so something I would say. I was reading it wondering if I had actually said it at some point. Yay incoherent ramblings. Good times. Although singing a song from RENT may have been a tad more relevant and worked just as well, but I enjoy your abstract and somewhat insane stream of consciousness.

Hahhahaha. *in Cowardly Lion voice* Ain't it da truth, ain't it da truth... I love how on topic we are, me singing the Who song when I could be singing Seasons of Love.
Psssssh, incoherent ramblings are LIIIIFE.

Ok so it was nice to not get back on here and have 20 pages to read, even though I love you all, having just 4 pages is a LOT easier (and will help my paper get done faster)
FYI the bag lady did curse (I dont need no god damn help) it is like the mf artists, but I dont think it was taken out just cause it was bad words...my mom was shocked that it got PG-13 with two f bombs.
Ok my rent convos have been cool two with my friend and roomate who loved it then on my dry erase board I have I've seen RENT 4 time! Go see it! and people have put things like loser, I hope you get AIDs, That movie is full of cvck suckers, fag (even though I'm straight) and similar things...I think at least 50% were from my ultra conservative neighbor
And Anthony is just amazing. I have Open House and have only watched like 100 minutes but I love it alrady...I loved anthony before Rent was a movie...you arent a RENThead just cause you saw the movie once biatch
edit- oh nad you got the voicemail stuck in my head too

See what happens when take a nap! A real question! Well, we have had questions before.
Hehe Put 'em up! Put 'em up!
Rent had... 7 f-bombs cut? (that # seems high)... and 3 frames of a needle going into someone's arm (which is basically 1/3 of a second of the movie). Just as an FYI. It did initially get an R rating.
wow 7 does seem high...hmm lets see if we can figure out where they were...in Rent dudes im on my way great! f*ck I need the Rent
Mother fin artists
I know I'm missing more...
And the three needles gonig into someones arm....I'm guessing that is all Mimi? and the movie def isnt lacking because it isnt there lol
aright.. side note: my renthead friend im'ed me today to tell me that she changed her ring to: HONEY I KNOW YOUR THERE, PLEASE PICK UP THE PHONE. how funny is that. And since the rent soundtrack is never in any stores near me, someone in my class told me they saw Mark and Roger in FYE yesterday so I called and theyre holding Mark for me =).

Aww Luckey! I loved all the covers. I have Joanne. And that ringtone is terrific. My general ringtone is 'Your Song' from Moulin Rouge...I've been meaning to change it.

F-bomb count in the show:
"Great...F**k!"
"F**king weird..."
"Who the f**k do you think you are?"
"This lot is full of motherf**king artists!"
I think that's all of them. How did they cut seven from the movie?
i really wanted one of the rent ringtones..but i wasn't inlove with any of the ones on the site so I'm holding off on a RENT one. Right now my ring is sex and the city theme song haha.
