They said that 1/9 is almost sold out! Was kristin's last show sold out this far in advance? Do u think they will have over 1,000 in the lottery for Idina's last show? Like do u think it will have the same hype?

And please kids, learn your lesson from closing night in Aida: No moment whatsoever, including the highlights of the show, justify the use of flash photography. It's dangerous for the actors, and more dangerous for you once I pick you out and kick your ass.

what happened closing night of aida?? lol sorry i don't know

Especially during defying gravity--that could seriously be dangerous due to the platform Idina's on.
If you're familiar with the show, you'll know the part at the end where Radames and Aida are buried in the tomb, and the "walls" are closing in on them. Apparently a few camera flashes went off and it started to snowball with a lot of people taking pictures during what is the emotional highpoint of the show. And Adam, always lovely and professional, broke character, stared into the audience (or as I choose to think, gave The Evil Death Glare a la Sam in The Apprentice) and shook his head, causing Deborah to actually have to pull his face back into the moment. Apparently he was pissed enough that people thought he might actually say something.
It ain't gonna happen for Wicked, folks. Idina looks pretty buff too. She'd probably take someone out if it happens on Jan. 9th. (Hey, without provocation she has no qualms slamming doors at people and kicking puppies on sidewalks, so it's really not out of the realm of possibility.)
"It ain't gonna happen for Wicked, folks."
You mean the picture taking? You really think so? I can't even imagine what it'll be like! I bet there'll be even more picture-taking than Aida's last show, based on the fan base for Wicked. It just seems like the people who will be going won't be those who will observe that kind of rule.

Will people yell at you for taking pictures at Idina's last show as long as you don't use the flash???
You shouldn't be allowed to take pictures. Doesn't the ticket say that there is no photography/videotaping allowed? Whether or not it is someone's last performance, it is a copyrighted show and the rules should be followed.

Well, you better stretch that ass-kicking leg, because if the frenzied picture taking at KC's last show is any indication, you'll be running around that theatre the last 20 minutes of the show laying the beat on!
Ugh, it was embarrassing.
People were actually running around the theater? And no one does anything about it...sheesh.
I actually won't be at the Jan 9 show, so I suppose my ass kicking leg is really more...umm...karma. But don't you think there won't be other people there with the same violent tendencies as me!
Photography in general is bad enough (copyright, distracting to audience members, etc.), but at least if you're going to be all overzealous, turn off the flash so poor Deenee doesn't topple off that platform. (She can't ACTUALLY defy gravity, you know.)
Yeah, at $100 a ticket (probably even more, because people go crazy), I wouldn't want anyone running around me trying to take pictures, and would file a complaint with the theater.
I am angry. I just found out that my mom had tickets reserved for January 9th but gave them back to the theater because Idina's last show was supposed to be the 2nd.
Stupid karma

oh my gosh! im sorry. thats gotta stink knowing u couldve been there! I am going to see the show october 13th..no special date..id love to be at her last show consdiering shes like my idol.. ahaha but im lucky enough to see it. So, yeah be polite n dont take pics..even though its her last show...if you wouldnt take a pic at just any show..it being her last doesnt give u sudden rights to put her in danger!. XoXo
Plus, I am sure there will be pics on the B'way webisites. Although, there were none of "Boy from Oz"'s final night on Theatremania.com or Broadway.com, which really baffled me! (I don't think Playbill.com had any either. I could be wrong.)
I was at Kristin's last show in Wicked, and EVERYONE was taking pictures during her last scene. I think it just depends on the show... if you go see a show like 42nd street where there a is a HUGE finale... take all the dam pictures you wan on closing nught, but the final moment in Aida is really personal and beautiful so i can understand how that would suck with flas photography everyhwhere!
To those of you going on Jan. 9th... that's awesome! I'm glad you got tickets. Part of the reason the tix are sold out now is because of the recent date change. But in terms of the craziness on Jan. 2nd, i do think it will be insane. I'm kindof ready for it after 7/18 but i'm not sure if i'm expecting THAT much worse. I guess we'll see.
See you in green on 2/9/05!
Well, considering picture-taking is illegal, I wouldn't tell anyone to take as many as they want. But if you don't care about laws, then don't do it because it could seriously harm the actors. ESPECIALLY in a show like 42nd Street with tap-dancing on staircases. Hopefully, the theatre will keep extra ushers on hand for these potentially enthusiastic evenings to either confiscate cameras they see in the audience or throw out audience members who don't care about anyone but themselves.
I agree Mister Matt. It is also distracting as an audience member. I have posted my story about someone taking a flash picture of Tedd Ross and Stepanie Mills singing "Be a Lion" in the Wiz. A very touching moment in the show. The flash ruined the moment. Stephanie Mills Walked off of the stage until Ushers escorted the person out of the theatre.
the pictures weren't that bad 7/18...until curtian call. When flashes were going off at high points of the show it pissed me off but it didn't really bother me at curtian call...
i don't see the point of using a flash- theres already a tremendous amount of light on the stage that there shouldn't really be a problem sans flash

More than anything, people, you SHOULDN'T take pictures Jan 9th out of RESPECT to Idina!!
It's her last show, yes, but let's give her a chance to play the role the way she has done it since the show opened - undisturbed by the photo taking.
You have the souvenir programs, it has photos.
Do you want to remember that performance as 'the show where Idina frowned to the audience' or 'that show where she interrupted the scene and asked the audience to stop taking photos'?
Let Idina have her night - let her shine one more time as Elphaba, let her 'work her magic' one more time - you guys just sit back and enjoy it!
"And Adam, always lovely and professional, broke character, stared into the audience (or as I choose to think, gave The Evil Death Glare a la Sam in The Apprentice)"
LOL Gotta love Adam.
*edited to make one more comment* I'm surprised theatres don't pat people down or use metal detectors like concert venues. I mean it sucks, and I hate it, but if it is getting rediculous to the point where there's 2398402389 flashes going off at one time, then maybe theatre venues should take more care. Especialy if its during a milestone performance, like the closing of Aida or Chenoweth's last performance.
