A London friend reminded me that they were supposed to get Jake/Annaleigh in SUNDAY and there were rumors of the Josh Groban SWEENEY as well. Any chance of them still making it over?

SUNDAY, I believe, was nixed by the pandemic.

SWEENEY…I never heard any substantive rumor.

The latest rumour going around is that Marianne Elliot was looking to do Sunday with Andrew Garfield.

I think a London Sunday revival is LONG overdue now.

I really wish that Gyllenhaal/Ashford Sunday hadn’t gotten derailed by Covid. I missed it in NYC and had been planning to head over to London to see it as soon as it was announced. And then it was another Covid casualty

The biggest shame of all is that, had it successfully transferred, it likely would have been filmed, preserving the expertly crafted performances Ashford and Gyllenhaal gave. So sad every day that it didn't happen because of covid.

Same here

I got to see the Pasadena playhouse production with most of the creative team from the 2017 Bway revival. I keep telling myself I have seen 50% of the Broadway revival.

I caught "Sunday" on a last minute whim a few days after it opened and was able to get a front row, center orchestra seat for a relatively decent price.  Was an incredibly magical afternoon and something I was sure would have some further life after their limited run wrapped up.  Indeed another sad chapter of the COVID chaos that I kept waiting to see might get rectified each season in the west end but I saw the same rumor about a revival with Garfield/Eliot that binau referenced.

Plus they're doing a revival of Into the Woods this coming season so I wonder if that might slow down another Sondheim revival in the same season

It was amazing to see Jake G on stage in "Sunday" and that whole revival was beautiful, but I'm still a little irritated/haunted by that French horn player who missed notes (including at the very final performance with Sondheim in attendance) and although they had great chemistry as a pair I preferred Ashford in "Sweeney" (although she did have an amazing second act in Sunday).

This of course made me go "wasn't Sweeney revived there with Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball not too long ago?" and then searching to confirm and seeing that it opened in 2012. Where has the time gone?

I'm pretty sure no one will ever top Bernadette Peters' Dot, but Annaleigh's was the greatest Marie I've ever seen.
