There's never been a commercial recording (besides the film) made of this show and with two other Sondheim/Peters shows on video already, is there a chance this could join that collection? I'm guessing there won't be another cd recorded with this new cast so I'm hoping the powers that be can make this happen.
I am hoping Peters and Stritch will record Clowns, Liaisons, and Glamorous Life for iTunes or something.
I would love a commercial recording of the production. We shall see what happens.

Peter's singing "Send in the Clowns" is readily available on other recordings, no?
And personally, I don't need a recording of Stritch growling and screaming through "Liaisons."
She used to perform the song in one of her acts like 25 years old. But I am not sure if there's a studio recording of it.
I am sure her interpretation of Desiree singing the song will be quite different from what she did with it decades ago.

"Me here at last on the ground,
you in mid-air"
Watching and hearing her sing that lyric - considering her own circumstances - would break my heart.
I can imagine that Peters' "Send in the Clowns" would be entirely different now than the way she has performed it in her solo acts. I think she'll do beautifully with the song within the context of the show, especially as it'll come from Desiree as opposed to coming from Peters, the performer. I really really hope they manage to make a recording of the songs somehow. If the show wasn't filmed with Catherine Zeta-Jones in the lead, it won't be filmed with Bernadette Peters.
I don't think Bernadette Peters has ever officially recorded "Send in the Clowns" correct? They should put together a CD sampler with a few songs sung by Bernadette and Elaine Stritch. That would be neat.
Maybe they'll pass them out at Broadway on Broadway.

^ Anyone care to explain this?

^ Maybe because her husband tragically died several years ago? If not, I don't know what Q means.
I believe it's in reference to Mrs. Peters' husband being killed in a helicopter crash in 2005.

I'm not aware of one either (so I'm surprised someone said it was 'readily available'). The only clip I've ever seen is the one of Peters in SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM.

qolbinau, Bernadette didn't do Sondheim on Sondheim.
There was a clip of her singing in the CLOWNS montage.
I wish that clip was still on Youtube. I don't think I have seen it in full.

I don't think it would be more likely that they would record it with CZJ and Angela L. I think they'll see how Peters and Stritch are received and if it is well, then they'll probably record it for PBS. People would be more interested in seeing a Peters/Stritch filmed version, knowing that they don't have access to them singing the songs.
I pray they do make one, especially after the mess of the film starring Elizabeth Taylor. It is a shocking mess.
I think it would be easier to film it with Peters/Stritch, considering the contracts that they needed CZJ to sign in order for this to happen.
Pretty good assuming one of you would like to put up the 2-3 million dollars for the cost of filming it!
Here, let me write a check.

Which contracts are you referring to? Was this in talks before? Did she put forth some conditions in her contract in regards to filming?
But it's Sondheim himself that usually wants his productions filmed, isn't it? I can't imagine he wouldn't want this one done.
And personally, I don't need a recording of Stritch growling and screaming through "Liaisons."
Just you wait.
