I second Hugh Laurie.
Heard about Jennifer Aniston doing theater. I would like to see that.
A bunch of actors have already done all three. I just didn't like Taye Diggs's character on WAG that much, at all. He was good.
I just see a frew actors on stage more than TV. I love Celia Keenan-Bolger, but I love her too much in theatre!
Sara Ramirez was gorgeous in Grey's Anatomy. Just fantastic.
oh! i missed sara in grey's anatomy! poop. who was she?

Anybody notice a pattern in these threads? Any thread asking questions such as this one, or best dressed, best actor/actress, funniest, etc. A lot of people who have some sort of knowledge on only three shows answer every question listing the same actors from those three shows, because that's all they know. Which is sad, because they only have a pool of about 15 actors, and don't know how much other actors have to offer. I hope that made sense, I just had to get that off my chest. I've noticed it A LOT lately.
I answer w/ John Slattery a lot b/c he's the only actor I really care about. Yeah it is probably annoying but I don't care.
And it is true! He is very successful in all three mediums, so I'm proud to support him.

ha ha - my sister just told me that ricky martin was in les mis and did a soap opera. never knew that.
okay. back to the topic :)

I second Paul Rudd. Also Natalie Portman.
I love Kristin Chenowith in musical theatre, but don't love her so much on t.v. or movies. Much as Julia Roberts doesn't translate to stage so well, neither does Kristin translate to the screen so well. Just my opinion.

Oh, and I just thought of Jack Black. I wonder if he's done any theatre? I think he might be good...
Sara is also in a small part of You've Got Mail

Jesse L. Martin, definitely, and I can't wait to see him do that Marvin Gaye project.
Bradley Cooper is so bland to me. Funny in Wedding Crashers, but little else worked for me.
Hugh Laurie would be wonderful on stage. I think stage requires a "big" personality. Now that I think of it, Idina Menzel may very well be good on screen in the right role. A flashy role. Unless she's playing "big" she just doesn't register with me.
Sandra Bernhardt also comes to mind.
Patrick Dempsey might do well with the right role but he's already being type cast as the John John Kennedy-type. I LOVED him when he did a guest spot on The Practice as the guy who killed his wife.
Oooohh...that brings up someone else.
James Spader. I would love to see him on stage. I think he'd be incredible. He's ared headed Kevin Spacey and I think he has the range to play just about any kind of character.

What about Christina Applegate?
BROOKE SHIELDS
GLENN CLOSE
AMY SPANGER
STEPHEN LYNCH
PATRICK WILSON
AMANDA PEET
TAMYRA GRAY
VANESSA WILLIAMS
JULIANNA MARGULIES
The young woman who was in Gypsy...she played the young Judy Garland in the TV mini-series??? - I love her. So talented.
- her name is Tammy Blanchard and yes, she is very talented in all three mediums.
Bernadette Peters has also been sucessful....surprised no one mentioned her already.

I don;t know...Bernadette Peters has never done anything in films that has wowed me.
Stephen Lynch could be great on TV if he could get some actual training. For now, he's kind of a ham. Robbie Hart is a hamm-ish role that suited him.
Christina Applegate...was she really all that good in Sweet Charity? Film-wise, she's never had a hit.

Brooke Shields! Saw her in Chicago and thought she was great.
And I can see John Lloyd Young in other things definitely. Jersey Boys is not the only thing he has done by far, it is just his most recognizable. His acting talent has been in other shows: off-Broadway, regional and otherwise. Contrary to what someone said before in this thread, he is not just a good impersonator, but much more.
Yeah, Christina Applegate hasn't really done anything credible in film (but I personally enjoyed A View From the Top and The Sweetest Thing). She did very well in Sweet Charity!
I would have to say Glenn Close has been amazing in each medium, but not rightfully recognized. Poor lady
What--Christine Applegate not a credible film actress!? Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead is a classic movie!
I wonder if you mean successful as in STAR!! or in that they work regularly in all three mediums. If so, then a lot of people are successful. But say, while Lupone's work on stage and TV has been very noteworthy her film work has been much less attention getting. Still though she works regularly in that medium.

I sort of agree with what has been said about Hugh Laurie so far, except I say he already has it. Roles in plays have been written for him, and he has performed in them and performed well. I read the script a while back for a class I was in of a play called Gasping, which is a satircal piece about a corporation deciding to create an elitism regarding the air people breathe, resulting in the destruction of the human race. Not the cheeriest piece, but hysterically funny. Regardless, the main character in the piece is a role that was written for and performed by Hugh Laurie.
So Laurie gets all three.
Also, let's not forget William Daniels and Alfred Molina. [Edit: I have to second Patti LuPone, and I also left off Betty Buckley.]

This is hilarious. I hope you are being facetious.
Craig Bierko is working in theater cause he never made it happen in tv/film. So it's doubtful he's going to make it big in either of those mediums now.
Seconding that JLY is doing far more than an impersonation in JB. Ben Brantley said precisely that in his review and even compared his performance to Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capote as an example of someone who transcends an impersonation and becomes a true character.

I think Sutton Foster and Hunter Foster would both be excellent for other mediums: Hunter at TV, Sutton at film. I can definitely picture her in films later in her life.
