I don't know if this has been asked before (I used the search button..and nothing came up, but you never know). But, I was wondering, what happens to a successful show if something happens at the theatre it plays at? Like, an electrical fire, etc. What happens to the show? Does it just go dark, until damage at the theatre can be fixed or any safety issues can be fixed? Or what?

Just wondering.

Any answers (even the sarcastic ones-you guys make me laugh..even if the sarcastic remarks are towards me) are greatly appreciated.

I think most likely they cancel as many performances are needed to to fix the situation. Refund tickets and then go on as normal when it is safe to do so.

Yes. Something of that nature happened a while back at the Plymouth/Schoenfeld, IIRC during the run of Jekyll & Hyde. The ceiling backstage fell in, and they did have to cancel a few performances to shore it up again. When Amour at the Music Box there were some problems with the set that warranted canceling a few performances as well.

I don't think it was Jekyll. Urinetown had to cancel a few performances when part of the ceiling collapsed in the auditorium after a few days of heavy rains.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Given the condition of the Henry Miller I'm not at all surprised by that, but there definitely was a roof problem that caused a cancellation at the Plymouth. I'm not sure if it was during Jekyll, but it was definitely at that theatre. I remember a friend of mine who worked there was laughing about having the day off.

The Music Box had a backstage fire during the run of "A Few Good Men". Several days of performances were cancelled. When they started up again, they played several performances without lighting, just using the normal house lights, slightly dimmed. After the backstage repairs were made, it went back to normal.

Into the Woods reveival delayed previews due to a leakage of some sort.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Most likely, discharge.
