when the underdog team/player wins in a sports movie.
when two people overcome personal differences that seemed insurmountable to become unlikely friends.
when i drop off my long-distance girlfriend at the airport.
when i saw madonna in concert for the first time.
i literally cried all those times.

I'm not at all proud of this, but I cry every time the Von Trapps head up the Alps while the Mother Abbess sings "Climb Ev'ry Mountain." It really doesn't matter how mediocre the production, that moment gets me.
Ditto the end of SHENANDOAH when the kid turns up alive and limps into church, moaning, "Pa, Pa".
And since namo brought up the MTM ladies, I not only cried the first time the final MTM SHOW was broadcast, I cried every time that episode was rerun--even when the show was in reruns in NYC and I knew full well another rerun episode would begin in two minutes.

And the finale of Act 1 of Sunday In The Park.

Can't say I'm a cryer, but a good Broadway overture always gets me. The song "You'll Be in my Heart" From Tarzan will make me a mess. Also movies for kids that deal with deep issues but turn out happy in the end ...the Rugrats comes to mind first haha.
Shockingly, I didn't ball when Idina Menzel walked on the stage as I sat front row at If/Then. Just sat in complete awe. All my life I thought I would be a mess.

This is an interesting thread that really makes me appreciate theatre as well as the off beat humour of some of the visitors here.

"How Could I Ever Forget?" from Next to Normal. It's so sad and emotional.
Also, the scene in Elisabeth das Musical where Sisi gives her written ultimatum to Franz Joseph, and then nearly succumbs to Death's coaxing before flinching at the last second and declaring that she's too young to just end her life. I find that part very powerful for some reason.

I saw POTO one time while high on codeine for a back problem. Cried like a baby through the whole thing.
Which was odd because every other viewing bored me.
