I never said any of that was hilarious. All i said was that the biz is unpredictable. You are crazy and have had a bone to pick with me since day one. Please stop!

Also I have never based my analysis on what I hoped would happen. I thought the producers wanted to keep the show open til nominations which is why i kept telling you guys that that was going to happen.Thank god youre not a producer because you would close your shows down if they lost money the first week.

ON THE TOWN's grosses have been going up. I think they'll do fine during the spring & summer. Especially with some Tony nominations/wins. The two shows I'd watch out for now would be IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU & THE VISIT. They both just started, but there's plenty of discounts available for these shows and I'm not too sure how well word-of-mouth is so far.

That might set a record for your forgetfulness on here. 

You also say "You are crazy and have had a bone to pick with me since day one." Whether anyone here is crazy or not (or a producer or not) is not something you are in a position to say. I have no bone to pick with you. I like you (not like that) and I like your seeming enthusiasm. All I have done is try to help you channel your energy in a meaningful way. You say you want to be a part of this community; to that end there are some lessons you need to learn (as I have detailed before. At one point earlier I asked if you were being serious or just pulling everyone's leg here. I've given you the benefit of the doubt-something most here have not. You can make a positive contribution to this place, and perhaps to the theatre, but not by coming off as the butt of everyone's  joke, or as a kid who refuses to get it. I can tell you from experience that someone who refuses to listen and learn never gets very far in this business. I have higher aspirations for you, and I hope you do for yourself. 

Show business is a business, not a fairy tale. That's lesson # 8 (or is it 9?).

From rumblings I've heard, the Cirque Du Soleil rumor about taking over the Lyric theater has gained a lot of momentum. I don't expect On The Town to run past August, whether it wins a Tony or not.

On the Town reportedly built in a fairly sizable reserve into their budget when they did their initial financing, knowing that it would probably be a tough sell during the leaner, less tourist populated months.  They have seen some minor increases in their grosses as we move into the spring and (theoretically) warmer months, and they also showed that during the traditional busy weeks they can indeed draw a decent crowd (they had a million-plus week during the holidays, something a certain other show never managed to come anywhere close to achieving).  It isn't the most illogical thing for them to try to brave it out and see what happens awards season does to their sales (assuming that built-in reserve rumor is true).  While it's unlikely that they could actually recoup, they might be able to pull decent enough numbers to run through the summer and close just a little less in the red than they would be if they closed now.

oh please. Nobody wants to see this boring old chestnut. I still think Honeymoon had a better shot at making money after awards than On the Town. That certain other show did really well during Valentines day week i think

Well you thought wrong.  While Valentine's Day week was the best week the show had, it still didn't crack $500,000 in grosses.  That's not "really well" by any stretch of the imagination.

Compare some numbers.

Christmas week On the Town made over $1,000,000.  Honeymoon didn't even make $400,000.

New Year's week On the Town was just a little over $30,000 shy of having another $1,000,000 week.  Honeymoon made just over $400,000.

I don't think On the Town is going to recoup, but the numbers do indeed show that more people were willing to pay higher prices to see it than they were Honeymoon.

Wasnt there a week when Honeymoon made 600,000? Idk i never really looked at the numbers, i just knew they were bad and thought the producers were gonna hold off til nominations which i think they did try to.

I saw for the 2nd time last week comp ticket and had a conversation with the house manager and he said that the producers plan on staying open till summer so I guess they are basing it on Tony nominations and wins on when to actually close.

No, they never cracked $500,000.

And that's one of the reasons you'll find so many people have issues with you here on this board.  You'll ignore easily obtainable facts and figures and just spout off what you think.  You never have anything to back up what you say and you dig in your heels like a stubborn mule.

Shows will wait till after Tony nominations are announced and most will wait out and see if they win any and if it helps the box office so I believe we'll see a couple close during June with those possibly being: Musicals

***As for The Visit it only started previews (5) this week @79% not bad but highly doubt this show will last past summer.
