OBC "La Cage" - but #%&(@%!!! - I wish it was the current cast.
"Heart of the Matter" by Don Henley. Anyone else here a fan of his music... "New York Minute," "The End of Innocence," "Boys of Summer," etc?

I love Don Henley! I went through a stage two years ago where I was completely into The Eagles and that's almost all I listened to. Now not so much for some reason...
Right now I am listening to the OBC of La Cage but also wishing it was the revival cast. I tried listening to La Cage and then The Producers right after it to try to do a Gary cross-over, but it wasn't too successful. I must admit I'm not such a fan of the original cast. But if it's the only way I can hear the songs again, so be it...

PARADE is my new addiction, a real guilty pleasure...
See them laugh when an angel dies!
See them tell of the truth of their lies!
But they'll run on the judgment dayyyy!
Someone's gonna pay when the flood comes!
How can I not feel guilty finding tunes like that catchy?

Actually Evelyn, I'm pretty sure the lyrics are "See them tell all their Jew-loving lies", but regardless, I completely agree...words cannot describe how I feel about that musical. Despite, but really because of, the subject matter.
the last five years, a mix with a bunch of showtunes on it, thoroughly moderm millie, rent, robin williams stand up comedy
I was listening to La Cage about an hour ago while working on my essay, but right now I have You're a good man charlie brown (revival) on.

And to think I had picked that line as the one that I thought *didn't* directly reference Jewish people so that no one here would be offended by overtly musicalized anti-Semitism! :) My favorite songs from the show are The Old Red Hills of Home, The Factory Girls/Come Up to My Office, A Rumblin' and a Rollin', and Where Will You Stand When the Flood Comes (of course). It's a brave work of great depth.
And if you've never read the novel Ragtime, you should becaues Leo Frank figures into it toward the end.
