I run a daycare in my home on Long Island.
I live in a Eastern suburb of Houston. I teach social skills to adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. My students are grades 6-8. They are on the "higher" end of the spectrum (including diagnoses of Asperger's), so they attend mainstreamed classes and come to me for support throughout the day and for a social skills period at the end of each day.
As a delightful hobby, which I pray and hope will become a paid job, I cover the Houston theatre scene for BroadwayWorld. Since starting in mid-May 2012, I have written over 150 pieces. I love my position as a contributing editor for BroadwayWorld and a voice that covers theatre! It is a fantastic experience.
Now that is a worthy profession DECLARKE
I'm a college student and I'm working in a library. Also, like Emma White, I'm living in Montreal.

I was Associate Director of an Equity theatre where I worked for over 30 years. It closed a year ago, and I'm now looking for work!

I have a boring job with the State and go through the boring rituals of the day-to-day. Looking forward to retirement at the end of the year. New York theatre is my only salvation, as I live in a boring community with a lot of boring people. When I was a kid, I had dreamt of being an actor except for one minor, itsy-bitsy thing: I have no talent. At least I can savor it vicariously and I consider myself lucky at that.
Ed, youre to be commmended for recognizing your lack of talent. if only many of our actors were as considerate! :)

Full time, I am the manager of a successful dance studio. In my "free time", I freelance direct and choreograph musical theatre (mostly in Arizona, New York and Massachusetts).
I'm one of a long line of good girls
Who choose the wrong guy to be sweet on
A girl with a face that says "Welcome"
For men to wipe their feet on
I'm there when he calls me his trusted Girl Friday alright
But what good does it do me alone on a Saturday night?

I don't make a "living" per se writing for the theatre: like I said, I'm a graduate student working in the Pittsburgh area, where rent is much cheaper than New York. In addition to my personal writing and composing projects, I nabbed a job to be the in-house writer for a local hybrid-Equity theatre company that also runs a school for the performing arts. As part of their season, I churn out either one or two new musicals a year for them, and the paychecks from that (plus EVENTUALLY royalties whenever I manage to license any of these shows) more than pay my rent and utilities, since I found the world's best condo at the world's cheapest price.

I love how the responses all sort of jumble together and Tea Cozy Knitter seems as plausible as Kindergarten Teacher.
Imagine ME a kindergarten teacher!?
