Do you think more people will cancel their beach plans and stay in NYC and see a show or will the bad weather keep more people away from the theater?

Tourists are already here for the long weekend. Everything should be playing to a full house.

Apparently a lot of people seem to think that bad weather will keep others away from waiting outdoors for tickets, so it sometimes happens that even more people show up. I don't know about TKTS specifically, but I remember one of the days I tried the Rent lotto. As I made my way down to the Nederlander it looked like it was about to pour--the sky was very threatening--so I figured my chances would be good because most people would be discouraged from waiting on line. When I got there, I instead found even more people than I expected--almost 100 for a Saturday matinee. I read later that that's not unusual: more people might actually show up because of bad weather, thinking that no one else will be there. I'd say it will probably be business as usual this weekend.

i've watched the tkts line for hours in time square in the rain from the hotel room in the marriott marquis hotel window. it might not be as long as when it's nice out, yet it's still very crowded.

When I was there last month and it was raining, I went to the Hairspray lottery and there were only about 25 people there so I think we all (except 3) got called.

It means that the 10,000 people waiting in line for tix are going to be very wet.

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

I stood on that line for about an hour in the rain, I just got very wet. It was also very crowded.

I don't think that the New York theater ever really considers the beach competition.

All the performances will likely be cancelled, because, as we all know, actors are made of sugar.

The new temp tkts booth is mostly sheltered under the Marriot Marquis.
I'll be down the (NJ) shore anyway, hopefully Sunday will be allright.

The rain makes me sad because tomorrow was the only night I was available to go see Mother Courage and now I can't go. I don't want to wait 6 hours for tickets and then not be able to see it because of terrible rain. Oh well.

Why go to TKTS at all? There are plenty of discount sites where you can buy tickets at the box office, such as broadway box or Playbill. Just go to their websites and print out the discount, take it to the theatre and get your tickets. You can even use a credit card.
