-- Opening night performance of Blizstein's The Cradle Will Rock (when the cast performed from the audience)
-- Porgy and Bess (the original Theatre Guild production and the '53 revival starring Leontyne Price and Cab Calloway)
-- Threepenny Opera (1956 original off-Broadway cast, including Lotte Lenya and Bea Arthur)
-- The Orson Welles-John Houseman "Voodoo" Macbeth
-- Othello with Paul Robeson, Uta Hagen and Jose Ferrer
-- Genet's The Blacks with its original US cast (James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou, Roscoe Lee Browne, Esther Rolle et al)

musicals in reverse order from nearest to my birth:

1. buck white (a musical with muhammad ali)
2. jimmy (an 8 performance wonder)
3. oh calcutta! (ahhh, another appropriate title)
4. dear world (with angela lansbury!)
5. canterbury tales (lord i did this show in college, cast for my ability to belch on ccue as the filthy miller)
