One of my favorite understudys is for Phantom. The christine understudy, I believe her name was Susan Owen. She was sooooooooo good, better than some of the christines I have seen.

Katie Adams, hands down. She went on for Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda both times I saw the Wicked tour in Chi-Town. I can't say enough good about her, as a performer and as a person! Her songs sounded great and her acting was so near perfect. She's also one of the sweetest people I've ever met! She's lot of fun to talk to, very friendly and always seems like she's in a great mood.

I dont know but I really love Maria Eberline as Elphaba. She was perfect in the role and I'm kinda glad I saw her over Stephanie J Block. Maria never struggled to hit any of the notes and she had such an amazing pleasant voice. I totally want to see her again

Ditto Katie Adams- I've seen her twice in L.A. now and I don't know that I like her 'better' than Kendra but Katie's is such an awesome performance. I love her Glinda, she plays it a bit more (understated?) than Kendra does, but Katie and Stephanie had such great chemistry, and I love Katie's voice, and in fact the second time I saw her I actually got excited by seeing her name on the 'at this performance' board in the lobby, which I never get excited by! :)

I liked Jenna Leigh Green when she understudied for Elphaba in Toronto. She was fantastic.

My favorite understudy is Katrina Rose for Tracy Turnblad on the Hairspray tour. It's a new love of mine...I am just now discovering who she is. There is a site with her music on it, and she's amazing!!! I also give credit to anyone who is an understudy--I don't know if I could handle the pressure. They are way underappreciated. I wish I could see Katrina as Tracy...who knows!

My favorite standby is Charlotte d'Amboise as Charity.
And I do love Belle Calaway's Roxie, as well.
As far as understudies, I am adding to my list as of today Jim Borstelmann as Roger DeBris in The Producers. Hilarious, and what a voice! Who knew. Also Brooks Ashmanskas as Leo Bloom. And back to Chicago...Michelle DeJean as Roxie.
Past favorite understudies include Roxane Carrasco as Velma Kelly, Michael Kubala as Billy Flynn, Kevin Cahoon as Frank N Furter, and Marcus Lovett as Bobby Strong.

Anyone noticing the trend of Tracy u/s's? Lol. I also love Iris Burruss (pardon my spelling) she is the understudy for all of the Urchins in LSOH. I saw the tour yesterday, and she played Crystal. This woman is amazing!! I couldn't help but wonder why she wasn't in the usual cast.

^^Yeah, I just saw her in LSOH on Thursday, she was great! In fact, I thought she had more energy than the other two who normally had the roles!
You must have seen the show at the APAC, right??

Um obviously Michelle DeJean as Roxie in Chicago. She is fantastic. Soon she is going to be headlining the tour - so it's obvious she is a GREAT Roxie.

I saw Erin Maguire as The Cat in the Hat on the Seussical tour a few years back. She made me forget that Cathy Rigby was even involved in the show. She was THAT good.

Hee hee hee...well, I'm a major Linda Mugleston shill, as everyone here knows, so it's no surprise that she's my favorite. Every time I see her name on the understudy board, I know whatever role she's playing is in very good hands.
David Burnham would be my favorite male understudy. When I saw him go on in Piazza, he was only in his second performance as Fabrizio and had barely any rehearsal, but he was absolutely amazing: beautiful voice, great characterization and sense of comic timing, and complete fearlessness despite the internal nervous breakdown I'm sure he was having. I hope they bump him up to the role when Matt leaves.

Aw, Flaemmchen, you beat me to it. I was going to give a shout out for Mugleston, so I'll just second yours. Unfortunately, I've only seen her in WT. Hope to see her in something else (a role of her own?) soon!

When Les Miserables was last in Seattle two years ago Matthew Teague Miller was one of the understudies or standbys(would have to look at the program again) for Stephen Patterson. While I like Stephen Patterson, it was very cool to see someone else portray Marius and Miller's voice was really great compared to another tour of Les Miz I'd seen a few years previous.

Heather Laws was one of my all-time favorite Sally Bowles in Cabaret. I'd purposely make trips to see her if it was pre-announced. Kevin Cahoon was indeed fabulous as Frank-n-Furter.
