I like Bob Gaynor in everything. He's a better singer and actor than most of the stars for whom he subs. For the life of me, I don't know why he doesn't land more leads.

Betsy Joslyn was wonderful as Paula in The Goodbye Girl. Better than Bernadette in many ways (I saw both).

Somehow, I haven't seen too many understudys in major roles, and I've seen many shows more than once...
I did love Megan Sikora in Wicked, much better than the normal Glinda.
I did like Bob Gaynor in Taboo, did a tremendous Ich Bin Kunst.
There a couple I did not like, but that's another thread.

For me, it was always Vance Avery for the Emcee. The show has long since closed, but...he was incredible.
