Kristy Cates. I'm not one to be a fangirl, but this woman makes me melt into a puddle of mush.

Shouldn't this be "WHO" is your favorite understudy....?
This is my signature.

re: What is your favorite understudy or standby?

One of the previous understudies for Altar Boyz, Daniel Torres. That man is crazy talented and unbelievably sweet.

Another one is the other understudy who is still there, Kevin Kern. I saw him go on as Mark, and for an unbelievably straight guy with a wife and three kids, he was AMAZING. Hell, he was amazing either way.

Both of these guys are sooo talented. They had to understudy five parts and they were five completely different characters, and they both are amaaaazing. No one has seen Carlos L. Encinias, the new understudy after Daniel left, but we can only hope he's just as wonderful.

Andrew Rannells (Link U/S/Fender) in HAIRSPRAY on Broadway, he was such a good Link, he had the moves, the voice and the timing.. I would love to see him take over when Richard leaves.

Lee Anderson (Taylor Collins U/S) in BROOKLYN, he was such a great Taylor... he had such a good voice I didnt even care he was an understudy.

The Streetsinger U/S from BROOKLYN rocked too... I forget his name but he was amazing...

hahah Kevin Kern is not unbelievably straight...LOL!!! Daniel Torres is my favorite understudy for Altar Boyz. Jim Weitzer is my favorite Raoul in Phantom. Kevin Kern for Les Mis though "Marius" in the book looked more like David Josefsberg...

re: What is your favorite understudy or standby?

I gotta give it up for Kevin Kern and Daniel Torres. I can't tell you Ive ever been excited for an understudy as much as I have for ABz

My fav understudy outside of my ABz addiction would be Justin Bohon as Dean in All Shook Up. He was just awesome and super nice at the stage door. We never noticed the cast board on our way in and my playbill was missing the understudy flyer...so we never knew we had an understudy until our way out. You would've never know...

Yes, it should be "who." Well, I changed it but thanks for pointing this out.

My favorite understudy is John Treacy Egan as Max Bialystock in The Producers. To me, he *is* Max Bialystock.

Brooks Ashmanskas!!!!!

Was the best Leo Bloom I have ever seen. I saw him go on for Hunter once and he was not only the best singer of all the Leo Blooms, and I have seen them all, but he also had the most charm and sensitivity. He should really take that part over.

Shannon Durig as Tracy - Hairspray (Yay for Shannon's promotion!)

Jessica-Snow Wilson as Audrey - Little Shop of Horrors

Blake Hammond as Wilbur - Hairspray (I liked him much more than Todd Susman!)

re: Who is your favorite understudy or standby?

Heather Laws in Cabaret

Elizabeth Loyacano in Dracula

Shoshana Bean in Wicked

All three were significantly better than the actor they went on for.

Linda Mugleston as the Baker's Wife in the 2002 revival of Into the Woods- She was brilliant in the role and brought a warm and inviting quality to the production.

Joe Cassidy was a really wonderful Andre in DRS. Charming, adorable, snobby, smooth vocals - just terrific. Haven't seen his Freddy though.

Charley Izabella King as Ulla was great. Except for one little belt note, I dont know if I woudntve known it wasn't Ms Huffman.

I havent seen her perform as Christine, but Laura Marie Duncan was so adorable as the Usherette in DRS. SO much stage presence for that little part. I think she maybe the epitome of the no small parts rule.

I have two favorites both for the same show. I LOVE Katie Adams and Maria Eberline for the Wicked Tour. OMG those two are just amazing. And both are incredibly sweet. I got to see Katie play Glinda for the first time with Stephanie and she was amazing.
