Evita died a age 33. She was at the height of her career around ages 24-31
you know I've always wanted to meet the Easter Bunny, and now I have. Rachel York was born on the 7th of August, 1971..in Orlando, Florida.
Guido, sweetie, an actress can put any age they feel like putting on IMDB, don't get your panties in a bunch. I don't care if she's 25 on her drivers license, she looks, shall we say, mature. Updated On: 8/21/04 at 04:43 PM
well of course they can...and yes honey, she does look "mature"
I'm very agreeable, as you will hopefully find to be true.
how about some of the newer/younger country artists now? do you think it's feasible for any of them to hit Bway sometime?
I've been thinking about it...and I might like to see Mandy Moore attempt Eva. That'd be entertaining if nothing else.

Well, Al Dente,
I look forward to your delivery at my house next Easter. I prefer Russell Stover!
Rachel York is, indeed, 33. Her "maturity" can be attributed to the fact that she is able to adapt to the roles she plays. She is a true chameleon. If you ever met her in person, which I have done several times, you would soon see that she is much younger looking in person than on stage. However, I repeat, when she did "Summer of '42" in Texas last October, she looked every bit the wide-eyed 25-year-old.
It's amazing how her facial structure seems to change with different hair styles and color. As a blond she looks much younger than she does as a redhead. From one headshot to another, she can look like a completely different person. Which, if I'm not mistaken, is the purpose of different poses, clothing, make-up and hair, right???
Wouldn't it be fun to see her cast in EVITA and compare notes? By the way, who's your choice for the part?

I'd kinda like to see Emily Skinner as Eva...but I dunno if she could or would ever do it.

"for crying out loud...Madonna has already "been there, done that"."
definitely true. I loved Madonna in it and I would have loved to see her on stage in the role, but Madonna is not the type who would revisit a role. She is the type that is never ending changes constantly.

al dente i would love to know who you would like to see in the role since you oviously dont like any of the choices mentioned???? Updated On: 8/21/04 at 06:29 PM
me too
I didn't want to repeat something I've said the last 15 times this topic has been brought up but, since no one wants to simply search, here we go again. Orfeh has always been my personal number one choice for the role.I think it goes as far back as the Broadway.com board where I said, I'd give anything to see her and Esparza play Che'and Eva. She's got the chops and the right look and age range. Eddie Varely and I went back and forth between my wanting Orfeh and him wanting Felicia Finley, who's also got the chops and looks. Sherie Scott is another wonderful choice, perhaps a tiny bit long in the tooth but she could sing the phone book to me and I'd be happy. Emily Skinner is another favorite of mine so how do I put this kindly, she'd have to drop some weight for the role and then yes,she might look a great deal younger then. She could be genuis in the role. So you're wrong when you say I disagree with "all" of your choices. I'm simpy not keen on jumping on bandwagon's of girls who are hot because they've been Idina's standby, or in one show, if that. Also, I don't read Andrew Gans, forgive me. Russel Stover's it is...
In response to the mysterious pm I just received, yes I do love Mandy Gonzalez but,(and here's a first), I actually think she's too young, and green for that particular role. I'd love to see her do something fun after the disaster that was DOTV. She's extremely talented and for those of you who missed Eli's Coming, you'll have to take my word for it. And finally, YES, once and for all, that's who my icon is. 'Nuff said.
Isn't Orfeh working in a workshop right now called Beehive? And if all goes well they are trying to get it to Broadway in 2005.
Don't smack me. I saw a very petite woman do it. And it reminded me of Chenoweth. Because she was this like ball of fire, not sure if that is really acurate, but I think she would be good.

I dont think age matters that much. Obviously we cant have Chita playing a 30 year old(maybe we could. That women can do anything) but there are ways to make people look younger(and older).

Being serious...
I think that Rachel York would make a pretty good Eva in Evita.

Honestly, I saw a girl of 19 play Eva Peron in 'Evita' in CA. Sarah Stattler is her name. She is absolutely AMAZING! I have seen many people perform numbers from this show as Eva and none of them have held water against this girl. If she doesn't, some how, get this part in a revival of the show, then you are all going to miss out. As a bonus this girl performed the show in its entirety in Spanish as well. It was absolutely the best thing I have seen outside of New York.
Eden Espinosa as Eva. Hands down!
