ONCE UPON will play a Nederlander house unless plans have changed very recently. (And Nederlander is producing it.)
INTO THE WOODS would be silly to play the Sondheim if the St. James is an option. Symbolism be damned, they can earn a lot more in 8 weeks at the St. J than at the Sondheim.
I wish the Roundabout would move 1776 to the Sondheim instead of the Airlines. The Airlines is not a great house for a musical.
Regardless, there are plenty of shows waiting to come in. No doubt a new tenant will be playing before year's end or sooner.

Sure that post was from 2012, but why the heck not? Let's get weird."
Ogunquit Playhouse is producing it this summer!! It's an awful show from what I remember, and now its primary authors are dead.
So....it's Rebecca The Musical? werk.
I know it’s tied to Nederlanders, but Once Upon a One More Time would fit perfectly here. I’m thinking it takes the Nederlander once Mr. Saturday Night wraps up.
Could easily see a limited run followed by Sing Street as well.

Gosh, there hasn't been a Roundabout production at the Sondheim in almost a decade - I damn-near forgot that they operate it.
The only musical I ever saw at the Airlines was On the 20th Century, and I didn't have an issue with it. I rarely find that a house is TOO intimate for a musical - or do you have a different issue with it? Would be curious to hear.
If Into the Woods prove to be a huge hit, at least at the Sondheim they could extend? That might be the reasoning? Plus a Sondheim show at the Sondheim... makes sense
Yea...I mean, it is kind of ironic that (to my knowledge) there has never been a Sondheim show at the Sondheim Theatre...
