With Anything Goes out the door, what's coming in next to the Sondheim?
Could be NUTTY PROFESSOR. But idk, that was just a random guess.

Hopefully it will be the Roundabout's production of On The Twentieth Century with Kristin Chenoweth!!!
Hopefully something new or something he has been working on that we haven't heard. Would love some new Sondheim music.
I think Into the Woods could do nicely there...
^ I would LOVE to see that. It would be a nice fit. I wonder how the transfer will work for the design of the show if it transfers since it won't be outdoors anymore. They would always build the set out into the audience a little bit.
^Just instal an LED light show on the ceiling and no one will know the difference.
My dream would be an all Sondheim/Sondheim related schedule.
A major revival each year, PASSION, possibly and several lesser titles, DO I HEAR A WALTZ, SATURDAY NIGHT, and experimental productions; EVENING PRIMROSE.
The all male FORUM, and perhaps International transfers, a Japanese SWEENEY?
And a home for Steve to work and rework New Titles.
A Dream.
A night of Sondheim's favorite songs.
A Revival of MARRY ME A LITTLE.
CurtainPullDowner, I love the way you dream! Who do we talk to?
The past decade or so has brought revivals of West Side Story, Gypsy (twice), Anyone Can Whistle at Encores, Company, Follies at Encores and Broadway (twice), A Little Night Music, The Frogs, Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd (with rumors of the London production on the way), Merrily at Encores, Sunday in the Park, Into the Woods (with some expecting a transfer of this summer's Central Park production), Assassins, Passion Off-Broadway at CSC this fall, plus revues like Putting it Together and Sondheim on Sondheim and countless 80th birthday celebrations, plus the NY premieres of Saturday NIght and Road Show. I guess we are due for Forum since it was last revived in 1996. I love his work and all, but New York stages have really turned into "Stephen Sondheim, This Is Your Life".
Smaxie-What you're saying is true for people who may have seen the original productions. However, for those of us who haven't been able to and have a strong appreciation for Sondheim, these revivals are really our window into his work.
I'd rather see countless revivals of Sondheim shows than something like Ghost.
let's see here...on the one hand GHOST/SPYDERMAN et al...on the other hand ANYTHING BY SONDHEIM?...guess where i am landing on this one...ANYTHING SONDHEIM wants to give us is PERFECT by me...
the SONDHEIMMANIAC
Off topic, but how do they do House of Marcus Lycus in an all male Forum?

If FORUM comes back soon, I really hope it's the all-male production like the one at Williamstown a few years ago.
When I read the thread title all I could think of was a giant Moloch-like machine that spits out lyrics. THE SONDHEIM 3000.

Nope, but I was alarmed to see 17 comments on a post that I thought had been started less than an hour ago!!!

I saw The Nutty Professor and On the Twentieth Century, and thought I'd entered a time warp LOL
Frigging double posts.

So those Into The Woods rumors may be true.. But hypothetically if that’s a limited run, I wonder what production will take it during the fall/winter
Almost Famous?
& Juliet?
Once Upon A One More Time ?
Back To The Future?
provided he's available, we NEED a remount of Sunday in the Park with Gyllenhaal....... even if it's a limited engagement
I'm still feeling the Nutty Professor suggestion.
Sure that post was from 2012, but why the heck not? Let's get weird.
ONCE UPON will play a Nederlander house unless plans have changed very recently. (And Nederlander is producing it.)
INTO THE WOODS would be silly to play the Sondheim if the St. James is an option. Symbolism be damned, they can earn a lot more in 8 weeks at the St. J than at the Sondheim.
I wish the Roundabout would move 1776 to the Sondheim instead of the Airlines. The Airlines is not a great house for a musical.
Regardless, there are plenty of shows waiting to come in. No doubt a new tenant will be playing before year's end or sooner.
