THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS isn't an 80s movie and there was already a GOONIES musical made.
I want a RUTHLESS PEOPLE and a HOWARD THE DUCK musical.

Field of Dreams -- I want a cornfield built and torn down on stage for a baseball diamond. Maybe they can just use "Shoeless Joe From Hannibal, MO" from Damn Yankees as one of the songs!
The Big Chill -- nothing says "Broadway musical" like a bunch of people sitting around talking in a living room.
The Breakfast Club -- nothing says "Broadway musical" like a bunch of teenagers sitting around talking in detention.
St. Elmo's Fire -- just because.
Zapped --- same reason.
Cocoon --- just think, it could be like "Follies" but with aliens and spaceships!
