Yes, she killed herself to provide her son with a better life.

After a long 10-year run, it closed in early 2001 and has turned up in several tours and/or regional theater productions. It's probably not time for a revival yet? I heard there is a plan to revive it in London in 2013 though.

That is seriously the funniest thing I have read on here.

What year? She probably fulfilled her duties and a new Miss Saigon has been chosen. http://missvietnamglobal.com/

The Fulton Theatre in Lancaster is doing a production this summer! It should be wonderful; they produce great productions there and bring in top of the line talent.

It is also going to be part of the excellent La Mirada Theatre's season and will play in April. Those of you in SoCal should check it out. They always put on top notch, full scale, quality shows with full orchestras (real ones, hehe!).
And their theatre--although oddly situated within a big shopping area lot (Toys R' Us; CVS Pharmacy; *random stores*; BOOM! LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS), it is a beautiful theatre inside and out and the auditorium is just the right size and is large yet never like a cave (like the Pantages Theatre!).

I wonder if Kevin Gray or Eric Kunze will be in this one!

It's also being mounted by McCoy/Rigby Productions at the Fox Theatre in Riverside complete with a helicopter. I'm presuming they're using a set from a previous production of Miss Saigon. I agree totally with My Oh My that La Mirada Theatre does indeed "put on top notch, full scale, quality shows with excellent actors and a full orchestra". I'm looking forward to seeing this show on May 6th in 2012!

Girl's gotta eat, and let's be frank, it's not like there are oodles of roles for Asian actors out there.

Seems like reason enough to let others have a go at it.

@My Oh My
Thanks so much! I just kinda stumbled across Miss Saigon very recently because I have been going through Les Mis withdrawl and thought that I would enjoy it because it is by the same people. I didn't realize that it would be coming close to home soon! By the way, how is the La Mirada Theatre? I find it interesting that their prices are so low.

My biggest pet peeve right now is when people pronounce it "Marry-us" and not "Mah-ree-us".

There's SUPPOSEDLY a movie version in the works, too.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

the La Mirada Theatre is pretty small... i saw Jesus Christ Superstar there a few years ago... the one that toured the US with Sebastian Bach (or at least I think it toured with him)... anyway... it's an awesome venue... maybe seats 600 or so... i forget

^Does it really only seat 600? It looks so much bigger on the Peter Pan DVD. They did film that at La Mirada didn't they?

Actually it's not 600 but twice that = 1251 seats.

Have never sat upstairs but really good view no matter where you sit in the orchestra. And the ticket prices for such good productions are indeed very low. I got two season seats for the price of one at the Ahmanson :)

It's pretty large, but not cavernous. It actually reminds me a lot of my beloved Shubert Theatre in Century City, with the look and feel of the auditorium and lots of legroom so you don't need to stand up when people need to pass. My Shubert has since been razed and office building built in its place!!!!11!11!
