Patronus - :)
I was going to respond to fosse and go for a third time but I'll let you take this one... frankly, my eyes are getting tired of rolling.
That is extremely encouraging to hear that some still have a sense of humor about them when all that seems to be publicized so far is how some have gone crazy, raped, commited suicide, stolen, killed, and so on.
Good for Lion King!!!

HI
I'm soooooooooooooooooo sorry I said that I didn't mean for that to come as a offensive or "self-centered"...I don't live there I live in Birmingham, Alabama....I was just wondering..My heart really does go out to those that lost there homes and everything...I am sooooooo very very very very sorry if that rubbed anyone the wrong way...please forgive me.
It truly does hurt though when a bunch of people jump on someone all the time though.
Again I apologize for even writing this and causing so much upset.
I'm just going to stay off of hear for awhile since there really isn't any point for me to belong to this site.
SORRY for the inconvience I caused and for asking a stupid question that I didn't think everyone would be so upset about.

Oy. It wasn't inconvenient and it wasn't a stupid question.
The phrasing, however, was the problem.

I agree good for Lion King! I actually live in the New Orleans area, luckily my house is still standing, flooded but standing and all of my family is safe (we are all evacuated). I think that people need something to take their minds off of the horror of what is happening to our city. Hence why I am on this site and not watching CNN. Give people a break!

Posted: 9/2/05 at 4:50pmI love the theater as much as the next person but I think that this is the LAST thing the residents of this area need to think about right now. With no power, no food, no ice, water or gas and still no assistance in most areas, I'm afraid the arts will have to wait. You know the Maslow pyramid? If the basic human needs (like food, warmth and comfort) are not first satisfied...no one gives a flying fig about things like self-actualization and art.

While it may be a while before anything is up and running, it is important we all keep those in the Greater New Orleans Theatre Community in our thoughts. Whether they are the support staff for the touring shows like Les Miz at the Saenger or the kids studying at New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA), they are our artistic brothers and our sisters.
Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, the Contemporary Arts Center, True Brew, the theatre program at Tulane University, Southern Rep, the Williams Festival - may your denizens, and all N'Awlin's children find safe haven.
When the artists come home and inspiration hits, I've no doubt they will continue to create astonishing productions as they've done in that magical place since the days of the Opera House at Bourbon and Toulouse.
