She was supossed to leave on July 4 ( I think ) but she decided to stay at least until Nov. ( I'm going to see Wicked in Oct. and she's going to be in it then )
"Let the little girl go, and that poor little dog? Dodo." That's my favorite line in the whole show (Wicked). My next favorite line is "Oh! It seems the artichoke is steamed."
No, she extended her contract (as well as Joel Grey) until 1/2/05...so you have plenty of time to see her.
There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]
she was never leaving july 4...and yes, 1/2/05 will be her final performance (as far as we know, that could change) All I know is that I got my ticket...BB seat 5
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH!

no, that's currently her and Norbert's scheduled departure date. *tear*

It’s posts like these that emphasise the importance of BWW of a historical archive and why it’s so scandalous that ATC posts are deleted. Reddit isn’t old enough.
Imagine if we could go back and read comments and word of mouth of Ethel Merman in Gypsy? With BWW we can do this for shows within the time window we have data for.
I sincerely hope the owners of this website appreciate this historical significance and I think if the website was ever at risk of closing they would export the database and donate to academic theatrical institutions. I’m sure they can find SOME value in it.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
genuine question for those who remember...in the thread above, it mentions Joel Grey extending with Idina. However, I believe the July 18th performance as Norbert and Kristin's last performance was also Joel's final. I remember seeing the bootleg, and Sean McCourt was the Wizard for a while. Anyone know what happened?
