When Shoshana fell into the orchestra pit at Wicked- Page 2

I saw "Pirates of Penzance" years ago at the Minskoff and during the entrance of the Modern Major General's daughters one of the actresses tripped and fell face forward flat onto the stage. As I recall, the 7 or 8 "daughters" were skipping and twirling and another actress who did not see what happened tripped over the fallen actress and went down sideways on top of her. I recall all of this because my date was so shocked she burst out with an "Ohh!" loud enough to get stares from everyone around us. No one onstage stopped in any way and the actresses simply got up uninjured and continued. As I recall, they did something like raising theirs hands together at curtain call. It was very amusing but also very genuine.

Not Exactly. The Lift didn't go up and she tried to release a spring and get out but it was stuck so a stagehand crept out to undo her. She explains it among her other Wicked fails here. https://youtu.be/vYoNyickcrI?t=1m54s

Thanks for clarifying Shoshana didn’t fell into the pit net, because I was thinking those nets don’t look strong enough to hold a falling human being. Or are they? Are they stronger than they appear? I thought they were more to catch small lightweight props like wine glasses and such that may roll away.

One of the main reasons to have them is to catch a person.  They have to be engineered and rated for that.

Thanks for the clarification. I haven’t been able to sleep properly for nine years, but I think this thread bump is just what the doctor ordered.
