Despite WSS winning any awards, I thought their performance on the Tony's was well executed. I thought the dancing was great. Matt Cavenaugh and Josefina did a fine job, not the best dialogue, but I thought it was a nice performance. I would expect people to want to buy tickets to that after their performance

Ditto to Dolly and Elton, I agree with CurtainPullDowner.

But it's smart "advertising" I guess. I mean a crapload of the 9 TO 5 posters around town have Dolly's face in them.

I was slightly wrong, GOD OF CARNAGE got a nice bump Monday at the BO.
Probably because Gandolfini was so visable.
My cousin from NJ called me and asked
"is James Candolfini really in a play live'?
And EXIT THE KING also got a bump,
I would think because Rush's speech was so funny and charming.
So much for the coverage of musicals and not plays.

"West Side Story" has been doing sell-out business and "Billy Elliot" has been close to a sell-out. Not much room for a big bump there but business is sure to remain strong. Some prominent awards and a well done number should help N2N and, let's face it, "Hair" was prominently featured in the show, closing out the opening number and stampeding into the audience during their frenzied solo spot. They should see a surge. "God of Carnage" is selling out and will likely continue. Too bad, in the year of the straight play (as in non-musical), not much attention was paid during the broadcast.

The average show doesn't really "sell-out" until, at the earliest, the week of the performance. That even includes hit shows. So it is very easy for shows to "improve" after media events. The only show that I know of in recent memory that actually was completely sold-out was The Odd Couple.

Per this Riedel NY Post article about Jeremy Piven, N2N and ROA got a nice bump. It's at the very end, and he doesn't quantify or give any source though.
