I know the reviews for both Othello and Good Night Good Luck are bad. I also know there are better shows on Broadway. I'm going to New York in May and before the previews started I got tickets to see Old Friends, Othello, Glen Garry Glen Ross, and Good Night Good Luck. I'm also seeing the ballet and the New York Philharmonic perform John Williams' music. Here is my dilemma, do I sell the tickets to Othello or George Clooney's show? I liked Fences and another one of Denzel's Broadway shows so I didn't want for the previews. I also liked the movie version of Good Night Good Luck so I thought the play would be good. Based on the reviews and comments at this website I was wrong. If I sell one set I would possibly replace it with Pirates. I say possibly because I liked Ramin in two other shows but am waiting until it opens to decide.

I saw both this week and if I had to pick one to see it would be Othello. Yes there are issues with it but it’s a better story. GNGL is just a meh story. Both have flaws but I thought other all the acting was better in Othello. JG is a good Iago and I think Denzel give a better performance that George.

I would have left GNGL at intermission if it had one.

That's really the correct answer here.
I've had no desire to see GLAGN, but will say this: Gyllenhaal's performance is worth going for.

This is my answer. I really enjoyed Gyllenhaal’s performance. I never say this but GNaGL was kind of boring. Even when a show isn’t working for me, I’m rarely bored. I sat in mezz row A and felt so far removed from the action. If you’re in the orchestra, it might work better for you. Still fun to see Clooney in person but that’s the one I’d skip.
Make the money, honey.
