Hi there folks!
Long time reader first time poster!
Your guys opinions have really helped us out when my family and I go on long trips to NYC to see as much theater as we can.
We are going again this April 14th-22nd and we have a few slots open left. So far this is what we are seeing!
Monday April 14th-Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Tuesday April 15th- Rocky the Musical
Wednesday-Cabaret Matinee and Raisin Evening
Thursday- Cinderella Matinee and Cripple of Innishman Evening
Friday- Wicked Matinee and Les miserable evening
Saturday- If Then Matinee and Of Mice and Men Evening
Sunday-OPEN!
Monday-BCEFA Easter Bonnet Competition, open in the evening
I just wanted to ask u guys what we should see for Sunday both matinee and evening. The three shows we are looking at are Bullets Over Broadway, Mothers and Sons or Threepenny Opera.
We are from Texas but don't follow the atypical Texas stereotype. We have seen over 40 shows while in NYC both on and off broadway.
We were just wondering what of those three choices we should see?!!?
I thank you guys again for all the help you've given my family and I over the years.

If I were you I would check out:
- Beautiful
- Kinky Boots
- Matilda
- Bullets
or Heathers if you might want to change it up and go off broadway. If had to pick one to make sure I see it would be Heathers. Also Violet might be in previews while your there. Not sure off the top of my head though.

I can't help you with the three choices you gave us because I haven't seen them. But I am so impressed with your dedication to see so much theater in such a short time..so I had to post to say so.
I hope you have a wonderful time in NYC..and I hope that the nice weather we are all hoping for is finally here for your visit.

Thank you so much!
During out Spring Break NYC Trip last year we saw both Kinky Boots (what was awesome was Harvey Fierstein was hanging in the lobby and my brother and I got his autograph on our tickets before the show!) and Matilda (We magically got front row throw telecharge and we were weeping through When I Grow Up)!
Beautiful is another show we are considering.. Mom is a Carole King fan, but she's unreceptive to the fact that Carole won't see her own show, but we all know Jessie Mueller is amazing having seen her in Edwin Drood!
Thanks Kathy for the well wishes we have been to NYC at least once a year in the past five years and are always amazed by how awesome the Broadway community is.

Beautiful, is very good.
I too am impressed with your dedication. That's a whole lot of theater.

It also gives you a great view of how gorgeous the theater is especially the ceiling. The view and acoustics are fine up there as well.

We originally had tickets to Aladdin, but when we read the reviews both from Canada and what was posted on this board we sold them. We love Disney but there was a lot that I kept reading of the show not being great.
The whole is family is above 21, Its my mother and father both over 50 (mom introduced us to theater through Jesus Christ Superstar and Andrew Lloyd Webber) and my brother and I who are respectively 24 and 22.

Totally agree re Bridges. Cannot wait for the cast album.
Hopefully business will pick up with the tony nods it will get. O'Hara, Pasquale and Score are a lock. Pretty sure it will get Book, Best Musical and scenic design nominations as well.

Do not believe reviews as reviewers trashed Rocky and it is a joy from start to finish.
Scratch Aladdin in view of the age issue. Try A Gentlemen's Guide To Love & Murder. Funny Musical. All The Way is a 3 hour drama re LBJ with Bryan (Breaking Bad)Cranston in the title role. Pippin is also a good choice.

We have heard amazing things about Here Lies Love but unfortunately no Sunday performances.
LBJ is actually in my family one of the greatest presidents (we are liberal history buffs) but we were unsure of the show. We tend to see more musicals then plays.
We love Jason Robert Brown even before seeing that fantastic production of The Last Five Years last year but have heard some not so great things about Bridges.
My bro and I foot the bills for all the shows we see which means most of our paychecks go towards saving and seeing and travelling to NYC when we can.
Have heard fantastic things about Gentlemend Guide and if we had more time or if more shows had Monday performances besides tourist shows (Phantom, Mamma Mia).

If a show, see All The Way. Hot ticket and likely to earn Cranston a Tony
If a musical, see Bridges. Great show and best score in years.

Thanks Kathy
With all this support for abridges we are starting to consider that one too. It's just hard to put a stamp on seeing it because there has been a lot of negative views on it on these boards and usually nine times out of ten their correct.
You guys saved us paying an exonerated amount of money to see Romeo and Juliet last year which when we saw it at the movies this past February were even more thankful.

Don't let the Carole-King-won't-even-see-her-show thing throw you; she's not having an evaluative response, the material is too personal for her to go through again. Jessie Mueller makes BEAUTIFUL worth seeing, the same way Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale and JRB make BRIDGES worth seeing despite the relative plainness of the story.
ALL THE WAY is a very broad-strokes history lesson; if you like your history presented on a shiny platter and in a snappy, entertaining manner it'll be right up your alley, but if you expect any deeper analysis or character study it'll be trudging.
BULLETS would be the old fashioned musical comedy on your list, though if you haven't seen either of these I'd happily recommend A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER or AFTER MIDNIGHT which should have Vanessa Williams while you're here. Either of those two I would pick over the other options (though I confess I haven't seen BULLETS yet.)
ETA: Also, I too would happily congratulate your outstanding effort to see shows with such enthusiasm in your trips up here!

Really? I find that there are a few posters here who's opinion I really respect, but more often than not, I find the general consensus on this board to be far from my taste in theater.
Don't get me wrong... I love reading and discussing current Broadway thought and so I'm here often - if you hadn't noticed - but I have given up using the consensus of this board as a barometer of what I'm going to like.
