This is our third trip to Broadway this year.
So far, we have seen:
A Gentleman's Guide
Les Miserables
Matilda
Pippin
The Realistic Joneses
We have very good tickets for It's Only A Play and Hedwig. What should our third selection be?
We are open to other suggestions, but right now we are considering If/Then, On the Town or Aladdin.
Please weigh in.

Posted: 10/18/14 at 10:25amI haven't seen On the Town, but having seen If/Then and Aladdin I can tell you I enjoyed both. I saw If/Then during it's tryout period in D.C. and can tell you the cast is absolutely perfect. The story isn't the greatest, but the concept of the two different paths Elizabeth's life takes is intriguing and in my opinion it was worth seeing. Aladdin takes the classic Disney film it's based on and expands it ten-fold. I would even go on to say it was one of the best, if not the best of the Disney shows to date (Granted I have not seen Mary Poppins or Tarzan). It has all the laughs and camp the original film had, plus some. The new songs by Alan Menken also add a nice touch.

Posted: 10/18/14 at 10:25amThank you, Wickedmonkey332. I was in You Can't Take it With You a few years back and that is definitely a possibility. I read Curious Incident. Another great possibility. Thanks.

I second "You Can't Take It With You". But I LOVED If/Then and On The Town as well. Expect mixed opinions on If/Then. People either love it or love to hate it. My advice is to find some of the threads where people have wrote about their opinions and use that to judge if it is the show for you. Also I have seen a naughty video (slap me on the whrist) of Beautiful and thought it was fantastic!

Go see On The Town the best of Little Old NewYork. 5 stars including the Times.

Posted: 10/18/14 at 10:35amFrom the suggestions you listed, I'd go with Aladdin if you can. I had a wonderful time seeing that show, more so than If/Then, and You Can't Take it With You (overrated, in my opinion). Curious Incident is also very good.

On the Town is about as far from Hedwig as humanly possible, so that would be a nice contrast. YCTIWY was terrific...I grinned throughout the show...and James Earl Jones Is a true giant in an pretty atypical role for him (over his long career, although Driving Miss Daisy was also a 'sweet' role.
If / Then is terrible to an awful lot of posters on this site, so -- unless you really was to see Idina-- I would avoid it in favor of almost anything new this season.

Posted: 10/18/14 at 4:05pmI would opt for On The Town. Aladdin is fun but IMHO it's nowhere as engaging as OTT. If you are a huge Idina Menzel fan, then If/Then would be a destination, but I was not blown away by the the show as I was by OTT.

I'd say Curious Incident if you're open to a play, then from the ones you listed Aladdin and then On the Town.
You have a great lineup! Have fun!

#14Which Show Should We See?
Posted: 10/19/14 at 7:40amThank you for all the wonderful suggestions. I really do want to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time as I thoroughly enjoyed the book and the clips I've seen look stunning. My other half is not as enthused about the show as I am, and I think I can convince him to see On the Town over Aladdin (which is what he really wants to see). Where can I find a good deal on tickets? We already shelled out third row prices for It's Only A Play as well as orchestra prices for Hedwig, so it would be great if we could find a deal of some sort on OTT (I know it's a long stretch since it's the hottest new ticket in town).

Posted: 10/19/14 at 8:03amI got to see Curious, Aladdin and OTT and you can't go wrong. I fell in love with using the app todaytix to get great discounts on tickets. If you use the promo code IMIMX you can get an additional $20 off your purchase.

Posted: 10/19/14 at 8:32amIf you want a play, I'm really excited for The Elephant Man, You Can't Take it With You, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, A Delicate Balance, and The River. A few of those are gonna be sold out soon, though. On the musical side, I'd highly recommend Cabaret. I haven't seen Aladdin yet but I'd like to. I don't want to see On the Town or If/Then, but you may like those (I've heard regally bad things about If/Then, though).
