lol, does he play trumpet in the pit, BT??
These songs aren't catchy? My friends all get annoyed with me because I'll frequently burst out into "The Brain" or "Join the Family Business".
"lol, does he play trumpet in the pit, BT??"
Lol..no Fred Applegate just sounds so much like him.

Have you gotten it by itunes already, BT?
Buy like... the last couple seconds of "Deep Love" and "Roll In The Hay" and that should be enough
I absolutely adore the way Mullally delivers her numbers, she is truly hilarious in "Please Don't Touch Me."
My main wonder is how funny it would have been to see Chenoweth (who has made a successful career out of playing the cute, quirky, blonde) singing these songs. That would have been a riot! I am thrilled I get to see her play Olive every week but God how I wish she had at least recorded these songs too.
transylvania mania is one of the corniest songs i ever heard. I respect opinions of most people and thier music but this song is the best worst song i ever heard. I thought that jimmy fallon idiot boyfriend song was corny but mania blows chunks of barf
in the words of Bob Martin:
"but the tune is so infectious!"
yeah, Alone and Transylvania Mania Blue are iTunes only - and neither are really terrific songs, but I don't know - something about Megan Mullaly belting a high E makes me go all a twitter.

What is the title of the first number in the show? Have they settled on one? My Playbill states that it is "The Happiest Town" but the album on iTunes calls the number "The Happiest Town in Town." I believe that it was referred as the latter early on in Seattle. Anyone with an answer?
Alone is also on the Cast Recording as a Bonus Track...not just on Itunes
The show is anything but mediocre. It's incredible.
I wonder how Cheno would've been in this show, too, except that I found myself thinking how much I would have enjoyed her as Inga. I think if Cheno had been Inga, Mel would've given her a lot more material than he did Sutton. Cheno's just funnier.
The score is average, but I like:
Together Again
Please don't touch me (mostly because of MM)
He Vas my boyfriend (mostly because of AM)
Happiest Town in Town
I really dislike:
The Man about Town
There is nothing like the Brain
I really liked the show overall, but the weakest part of it, IMO, is the score.
Does "The Happiest Town in Town" remind anyone of "Along Came Bialy"?
Hmm...not so much with me, IdinaBellFoster but I remember the choreography in Join the family Business EXTREMELY similar to that of the King of Broadway

I've just listened to the OBC. There are a number of things missing from the show (which I saw in Previews and then on that site) on the tracks, which is fine, I'm just wondering if anyone knows what has been cut from the show and what they have just cut for CD purposes.
The bits I noticed were *Spoilers*
*The bit that goes 'He's laid to rest...we're truly blessed' from the opening number.
*The Cane and Able Schwartz joke from Together Again
*The 'beautiful balls...red/yellow/blue e.t.c (replaced with something less funny imo)
*Quite a lot of Putting On The Ritz
*Some dance instrumental from Join the Family Business
Thanks
The Cane and Able Schwartz joke was cut from the show during Previews. And as for Putting on the Ritz, they just shortened it for the recording

I enjoyed it. The songs are slightly catchy, although "Transylvania Mania" is the most forced song I think I've ever heard. It's great to hear Megan Mullaly on a OBCR for the first time since the H2$ revival (right?), and every number she's in is automatically energetic and fun to listen to. "Please Send Me Someone" is a funny, clean ditty that I forsee many male high school students performing at theatre festivals in the future. Likewise, I was shocked to find a recording I didn't start zoning out after it reached the second act, something that happens way, way too often. Sure, Mel Brooks definetly didn't do as good as a job as he did with the Producers, but he didn't completely screw it up like people were gabbing about. (maybe I need to actually see the show before making bold statements like this and the next one) I think that due to all of the hatred directed towards it, and the fact that the Bee and Drowsy are both closing, YF may nab the distinction of being the most underrated musical currently on Broadway...
...that is provided if the show doesn't get nominated for/wins any Tonys, of course...

First I downloaded Please Don't Touch Me and Puttin' On the Ritz which are great then I got the whole albumand after listening to it all the way through I think Don't Touch is my favorite and also buy The Brain, Ritz, Mania and Roll in the Hay maybe Surprise
The whole album, really. But I'm just one of those people who likes to have all the songs...
If you just want a few, then ALL of Megan's songs, Roll in the Hay, Join the Family Business, He Vas My Boyfriend, and Puttin' on the Ritz.
WAIT!
All of them. Yes.
