Okay, I read enough around here to know that most people here hate posts like this, but I need some help, so I figured I'd at least try.
I need some new music, but I don't know what to buy. I'm debating between:
--A Catered Affair
--Lord of the Rings
--South Pacific
--Passing Strange
Any suggestions? I'll have all of them eventually, but now that I've got some extra money to spend, I don't know what to spend it on first!
And if there are any other recording you might think I should purchase over one of those, please let me know.

oh Dear God there is a musical to Lord of the Rings? I must have it!
NOT Lord of the Rings.
I like the South Pacific recording a lot...
Either South Pacific or Passing Strange. I vote the former.
Passing Strange!
South Pacific
Listen to the samples on iTunes to see which one you think sounds best.
My recommendation is Passing Strange.
Yes, the new recording of South Pacific is great. However, Passing Strange's recording is so revolutionary. While I do prefer O'Hara over Mary Martin (don't shoot me!), I much prefer to listen to Ezio Pinza and Juanita Hall.
Buy Passing Strange! Or both.
Or, you could get something good like Foxboro Hot Tubs or the new Raconteurs album.
Definitely consider The Adding Machine recording as well! I have added 6 (the four you mentioned + AM + ITH) to my collection this week and it is one of the best
The Lord of The Rings soundtrack is not bad at all!!!
The score for Lord of the Rings is gorgeous. Listen to snippets of The Road Goes On, The Cat and the Moon, Star of Eärendil, Lothlorien and Now and For Always. I was never a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings books or films, but I absolutely ADORE this music (I even enjoyed the show in London). I honestly don't know why anyone would steer you away from it.

Listening to this now. It is great. Lord of the Rings that is. They need a way to quote somebody when you reply to a post lol
You can't go wrong with South Pacific.

I can never get into those old shows. We usually do one a year for our community theater and I think they are snorefests lol.

Thanks for the input. If anyone cares, I finally decided on "South Pacific." I just can't say 'No' to a classic!
And if anyone cares, yes, I love it.
haha sorry but a lord of the rings musical?! how did i miss that?!
Taz - I absolutely love the new Reconteurs disc!
SweeneyPhanatic - Glad you went with South Pacific (even though I love the ACA and Passing Strange recordings too). It is wonderful.
