Sutton is totally wrong for Anna. I just don't see her having the elegance the role needs.

Ljay, we're exactly on the same page :)

givesmevoice, if there's any R&H show that Leigh Ann Larkin is perfect for, it's SOUTH PACIFIC. She'd surely be an excellent Nellie Forbush.

In regards to R&H shows that should be revived on Broadway, the current London revival of THE SOUND OF MUSIC is absolutely marvelous.

If they were to bring it over here with original star Connie Fisher (who is probably the only good thing that will have ever come from a reality t.v. casting show,) it would be a real treat for New York audiences.

I'm actually rather surprised Andrew Lloyd Webber hasn't already expressed interest in a transfer, with it being such a commerically appealing property (though he has openly discussed the idea of wanting to use Fisher in a potential West End revival of FUNNY GIRL.)

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I think it is too soon for any of the major works to have a revival. Allegro, Me and Juliet, and Pipe Dream would all tank.

I can never get enough of the "King and I".

Would love to see a revival of that anytime soon!

I think the King and I would be magnificent! Although I do love the idea of Carousel!
Ideal king and I casting:
Laura Benanti--Anna
Henry Hodges--Louis
Tuptim--Newbie
Lun Tha--aaron j. albano/jose llana/telly leung
King--Francis Jue from TMM? Or maybe you need a larger name for the king? I dunno these are just my thoughts. go ahead and bash them.

I love Carousel. I hope it's Carousel.

OMG Allegro with Leslie Kritzer?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! BEST IDEA EVER.

Of the "big six", however, I would most like to see a new revival of Carousel.

Whichever is revived, I just hope the production strives to break new ground - really find new life in these pieces. I think Carousel would be fascinating if it were not done as a period piece - if it had a contemporary setting. Same for the King and I.

I feel like these shows have timeless messages and lessons that we can't seem to learn, and we have to mine for new gold in these shows. People think R&H are getting stale. I think, if the duo (especially Hammerstein) were alive, they would love to see us really see how we can shake up his work to keep those timeless messages just as current and moving today as they were back in the Golden Age.

Out of the six I would prefer to see Carousel, which I think is there best work (though South Pacific is pretty close). But, Laura Benanti as Anna is a pretty splendid idea. Actually, Benanti as Julie Jordan in Carousel would work pretty well too.

Jose Llana already did the last King and I. Let someone else do it. Like me. :)

I'd love to see Carousel. It's the most beautiful and tragic of them all.

Cast Benanti in anything R&H and I'll be there. Her voice would be beautiful. I guess she already starred in The Sound of Music, so maybe any other show.

THE KING AND I is one of my favorite scores, and I wouldn't mind hearing Kelli O'Hara do another R&H role. If not her, I'd be interested in Ashley Brown's interpretation.

The casting need is for the king, though.

I’m probably in the minority, but I would like to see a remounting of Hytner’s Carousel. I regret not seeing it when I had the chance. I was too young then and I don’t think I would have appreciated it had I seen it. I can’t even find bootlegs floating around, not that that would be the ideal way to experience it, but it’s just a production I would of loved to have seen.

I know this doesn't hold, but of the BIG SIX, Carousel is the most overdue for revival -- it's been almost 15 years now. Billy Bigelow would be a perfect fit for Cheyenne Jackson -- he's done the part before (although he told me he was too young when he played it); Laura Benanti would be a good pick for Julie; and, if she was willing to do it. Kristen Chenowith might make for a perfect Carrie Pipperidge and Marc Kudisch would be an appropriate Jigger. Any suggestions for Nellie (You'll Never Walk Alone and June is Bustin' Out All Over)?

I think it is probably too soon for any of them, but the next one done should definitely be Carousel, its their best work IMO.

I thought Lea Salonga just started in a tour of Cinderella (may have even started in the Philippines) that was "Broadway Bound."

For selfish reasons, I would love to see a revival of the 1994 revival of Carousel simply because I heard so many wonderful things about it and I only got to see the first act finale. Nothing else.

Other than that, I would love to see a revised Allegro. I saw a new King and I tour with Sandy Duncan that visually stunning, though the performances were disappointing. The 1996 revival of King and I was simply one of the best revivals of anything I've ever seen. I put it up there with Damn Yankees and the 2001 RNT My Fair Lady.

The R&H Organization officially announced the mounting of the updated "Cinderella" in 2009 after its tour in Asia. The tour Cinderella is going to be played by Lea Salonga. There are no other details of the US mounting nor whether Ms. Salonga will continue the role.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing this updated version. Seeing "The King and I" in 1996, I wouldn't mind seeing another revival of that production. "Carousel" would also be another good revival. Patrick Wilson should also reprise the lead role.

Ashley Brown would be fantastic in an R & H. Disney pretty much owns her, and she does kick a lot of ass in those shows. But her voice would be perfect for an R&H

I'm very excited for the R&H Cinderella to come to Broadway--but I'm kinda hoping Lea doesn't stay with the production. Is she even current anymore?

I would die for a Carousel revival! And the King & I with Laura Benanti is too good to be true. Can that pleae happen? Please?

The Asian CINDERELLA tour, with Lea Salonga, is starting here in Manila ( Philippines) and opening towards the end of July. And I have tickets to see it during its run!
