I love the Music Box. It's marquee is so friendly looking. That's where Festen went wrong, they should have put it in the Belasco or something creepier.

And the Helen Hayes is so boring. I hate the marquees with the big steel boxes on either side, exposing all the supports and stuff. It looks tacky. They need to take a hint from the West End marquees, come on Nederlanders & Co.

But yeah, Music Box is a good fit for Company.

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

The Music Box feels sort of cramped to me. The whole theater has a sort of 'friendly' look to it, I think. I'd rather see Company go into the Plymouth.
A work of art is an invitation to love.

how about the Lyceum?

maybe too big at 950 seats, but I think it's so beautiful, and I love the marquee!

Inishmore isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

While technically slightly bigger, the Longacre (where Well was) can be made to feel really small. This could be good, it would still allow the small feeling while having enough seats to bring more audience members in = more $$.

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

I can see Inishmore closing by mid-September (unfortunately) like The Pillowman did last year, especially because of the stiff competition it is up against with The History Boys at the Tonys.

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

the Plymouth is also bigger than the Lyceum, but I agree. (thank god that) Inishmore isn't going anywhere soon!

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

I dind't realize the Lyceum was so large. I guess it isn't that big, but I didn't realize it had an upper level. I think Company would work in the Music Box, but that's just based on what I know about the show. I haven't seen this revival of it. And I would be on Inishmore closing relatively soon. It isn't doing horrible at the box office, but it isn't doing great.

True, but History Boys is a limited engagement, and people know that. Doubt was open ended. Plus, because of the Pillowman situation last year, people are determined to make Inishmore stay as long as possible.

i hope Inishmore stays open. it's a great play!

if only the Biltmore wasn't permanently taken!!

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

Yeah, but Doubt won the Tony and Pulizter as well as some acting awards. Inishmore won't win the Tony, due to History Boys, and I don't think will take home any acting awards. While it got good reviews and sold-out off-Broadway, it doesn't seem to be doing all that well. I doubt its expensive to run each week, but I don't see it running that long. I don't see the comparision to Pillowman, but Pillowman also had some star power in it.

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

Didn't PILLOWMAN close because all of its cast could not extend, it made back its money and they didn't see a reaosn to keep it running?

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

Fame Becomes Me is starting there in July.

EDIT- Yes Pillowman closed because Goldblum and Crudup couldn't/wouldn't extend and they didn't want to recast it.

They are both written by the same AMAZING writer.

Yes. I think, however, that Inishmore's cast will extend if the option arrises. Especially considering that people were so sad about the Pillowman closing.

"how about the (formaly known as) Royale after 3 Days closes?"
Martin Short's show is going there.

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

Yeah, but I think Pillowman was successful beause of the cast. Not to knock the play, I'm sure it's great, which is why it got all of its acclaim, but Inishmore is def. a harder sell. I think Company will probably end up at the Eugene O'Neil.
