Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

Now that Lestat has closed, several shows are supposedly fighting for The Palace. Does anybody know which shows? Legally Blonde is still in development and I don't think Opposite of Sex is a big enough show for the Palace. Any idea which shows are aiming for the palace?

Before mentioning Mame in his column yesterday, Riedel had also mentioned Legally Blonde and Curtains as possibilities for the Palace.

There was a thread saying Dr. Dolittle, but I doubt that's possible.

The Palace is way too big for COMPANY, especially this production. They would benefit in a smaller house, like the Music Box or Belasco. The Palace is a cavenous pit with two huge, horrible balconies.

Company would die faster than Suzanne Somers did in the Palace.

If Company was put in the Palace, it would by far br one of the most idiotic producing decisions ever made.

Wasn't PAJAMA GAME also mentioned? I just think the Fall version is a really stupid idea, poor Jeffrey Richards...

If one more person suggests that they put Company in that theatre, I'm going to punch this pillow sitting next to me.

I'm sure the producers recognize how utterly absurd that idea is. I *hope* they do. It needs a small house, and until it actually chooses one, I'm not going to stop going on about how it needs a thrust stage, either.

Well would it be possible for Spelling Bee to move to a small theater? I wouldn't normally suggest something unless it was doing phenonmenal as SB is box office wise.

It's doing so well; why would it do that?

Plus, after what they went through designing that set in Circle in the Square, there's no way.

Circle in the Square would be ideal for Company. But it's ideal for Spelling Bee as is...

How about the Helen Hayes for Company?

re: Which shows are fighting for the Palace?

oooh! Helen Hayes would be great!

if that fails, i say put company in the Music Box

Yeah, I think the Helen Hayes should be because Sarah Jones finishes up soon, and the puppet show that's going in - if it ever arrives - is only a limited engagement. I think the Music Box would be a good fit. How is the Helen Hayes? I know it's tiny, but does it have a balcony?

Company, staged at it was in Cincinnati, looked *really* good from a balcony standpoint.

While I know the show requires a small feel, I feel like the Hayes is TOO small. I could see the Music Box. If not that, I could maybe see the Barrymore (assuming nothing else is moving in there; I don't remember if that's where Twyla's new dance performance..ugh, I mean original musical...is going).

Twyla's show is going to the Brooks Atkins - or is it Akinson? Anyways, the one where Odd Couple is playing.

I'd throw my vote to the Music Box. If Sweeney can do respectable business in the Eugene O'Neil, then I think Company can handle the Music Box. It is by far a bigger, brighter show than the new Sweeney is. Plus, the Music Box only has like two more rows in the Mezz than the Helen Hayes. Plus it has a cooler marquee ha.
